IU demands urgent solutions to the deficiencies of Health Area III (17/09/2020)

| Sosa anticipates that they will take a motion in which they will address these deficits and the reactivation of the Health Committee will be proposed that gives voice to all the actors involved | Pedro Sosa, spokesman for Izquierda Unida Verdes in the Lorca town hall, denounced this morning to the media the dire situation in which Area III of Health finds itself, which encompasses the municipalities of Lorca, Águilas, Totana, Puerto Lumbreras and Aledo, for the neglect of the regional administration that has not addressed the problems it presents for years.According to Sosa, the pandemic has once again highlighted the deficits in our Health area, both in infrastructure and at the level of necessary professionals, since according to the reports presented by the association for the defense of health in the RM we are at the queue at the regional level, along with Areas II and VIII.

As examples, for Digestive in Area IV appointments are given from one day to the next, while here the waiting list is 271 days, or that of the 4000 patients on the surgical waiting list for trauma in the entire Region, 3500 are of our Area. For the mayor it is inconceivable that, despite the fact that the last two regional presidents belong to this Health Area, they have not done anything to address this problem.

It is also curious that the local government team in the last legislature when it was in the opposition, did not stop requesting improvements in this regard through the current deputy Sánchez Jódar and currently both the Mayor and his government team (with a Vice Mayor whose party co-governs in the Region) they show so little vindication with this situation. Therefore, Sosa has announced that they will present a motion to the next plenary session that they are finalizing from their municipal group, to again demand proposals that improve the health situation in our municipality, such as the construction of a new hospital in the Carraclaca area and for a new health center in San Cristóbal, demand for the other SUAP that corresponds to us by population apart from the existing one in Sutullena and the effective reactivation of the Health Board in Lorca where all the sectors involved are included. Finally, in reference to the return to phase 1 made more flexible in Lorca, Sosa has demanded that the access and exit control points of the municipality be reinforced, which until now are intermittent, that they be limited and act on the sources of contagion and the urgent processing of the disciplinary proceedings that have been initiated, otherwise said flexibility will doubtfully succeed in its purpose.
