The works have already started and by the end of the year the joint venture will have cleaned some 3,000 scuppers in order to avoid traffic jams caused by leaves and garbage accumulated during the summer months. From the mixed company Aguas de Lorca they communicate the work that is being carried out to prepare and clean the urban drainage network for its fine-tuning for the rainy season.
The objective is to keep the existing networks and scuppers operational, to facilitate the evacuation of rainwater in the shortest possible time and avoid flooding. The workers of Aguas de Lorca are busy these days cleaning one by one the almost 3,000 scuppers and sewers that make up the drainage network of the urban area and districts.
Maintenance is constant throughout the year, but both in spring and autumn it intensifies and deepens in order to minimize the impact of possible torrential rains and favor the adequate evacuation of rainwater, avoiding flooding and waterlogging sections of public roads. After the summer months, the drains are usually full of dirt, papers and leaves that obstruct the pipes and prevent the proper functioning of the sewers.
To eliminate them, intervention vehicles and mixed teams with high-pressure hydro-cleaners are used.
For this reason, after the summer period, Aguas de Lorca increases the cleaning of these points in order to face possible rains in the best possible conditions.
