The Civil Guard detains two people for half a dozen scams in the rental of a house in Lorca (24/09/2020)

| Those arrested are attributed the alleged responsibility of the continued crimes of fraud (6) and identity theft (2) | They rented a home they did not own to several victims Presumably, they came to seize more than 5,000 euros as a deposit The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia has developed the operation 'LLOGUER', an investigation aimed at clarifying several real estate scams in Lorca, which has resulted in the arrest of two people in Caravaca de la Cruz as alleged perpetrators of the continued crimes of fraud and identity theft. So far, the Benemérita has clarified six fraud crimes for a value greater than 5,000 euros. The investigation began last June, when the Civil Guard learned of an alleged scam in the rental of a house located in the municipality of Lorca. The victim reported that he contacted the advertisers of the rental of an apartment and, after formalizing the agreement, for which he delivered a copy of his National Identity Document, and paying the deposit, discovered that the house was inhabited by those who claimed to be their rightful owners. While the investigation was progressing to clarify this fact, other injured parties reported similar events.

The inquiries carried out by the Civil Guards revealed that, in all cases, the house to be rented was the same, so that all the complaints were incorporated into the same investigation. After analyzing various documentation, the agents identified two residents of Caravaca de la Cruz who, apparently, offered on different online platforms the rental of a home at a price well below the market price, thus capturing the attention of numerous customers. According to the investigation, they used the identity documents of the first tenants, posing them as owners of the property, to formalize the rental contracts with the following victims.

With this method they managed to capture at least six people. When the injured parties showed up at the house to hand over the keys, they verified that they had been the victims of a scam since those who identified themselves as their legitimate owners resided there, who claimed that it was their usual address and that they had never put it for rent. Once sufficient information and evidence have been gathered, the Civil Guard has arrested two men, aged 25 and 36, Spaniards and residents of Caravaca de la Cruz, who are allegedly responsible for the continued crimes of fraud and usurpation of identity. So far, the 'LLOGUER' operation has culminated in the clarification of six crimes of fraud and two crimes of identity theft, allegedly attributed to two residents of Caravaca de la Cruz. Those arrested and the proceedings ordered have been made available to the Examining Court of Caravaca de la Cruz.
