The Consulate of Ecuador in the Region insists that its compatriots must "become aware" of the health situation and measures against the coronavirus (25/09/2020)

The City Council of Lorca and the representatives of this community in our municipality already started, a few weeks ago, the joint distribution of messages and rules to prevent infections by Covid-19 and know how to act in case of having symptoms or direct contact with a positive .The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has held, this morning, a new working meeting with the consul of Ecuador in the Region of Murcia, Miguel Ángel Macías, and with representatives of these citizen groups in our municipality.Diego José Mateos has pointed out that “the situation has worsened in recent days with the confinement and in particular there is a very deeply rooted and very important community such as the Ecuadorian community whose health we are concerned about, so we have put on the table the level of incidence that this virus is having among Ecuadorian citizens residing in Lorca and how this health and social crisis is affecting them as a group ”.The Mayor has announced that "in order to stop contagions we are going to redouble our efforts to continue sending them all the messages and measures that we all have to comply with as a group, but also individually, as well as inform them of all the resources the extensive system of assistance and support that the City Council itself has made available to help them comply with the quarantine periods and that together we can bend this contagion curve and stop the spread of the virus, to return to normal levels with the that the health system is not put under so much pressure ”..The mayor of Lorca recalled that "from the Consistory we have already sent the representatives of Ecuadorian citizens all the information on the 'Lorca takes care of you' campaign with brochures and posters indicating the steps to follow in the event of a possible contagion for coronavirus, how to act in the event of having symptoms, in addition to the obligation to comply with health measures ".For his part, the Ecuadorian consul in our Region, has regretted "the health situation in which we find ourselves" and insisted that "we must continue to go hand in hand with the City of Lorca to try to stop the chain of infections.

Our goal is that our fellow citizens are aware of what is really happening and that they stay in their homes, and that they comply with all sanitary measures ”.Miguel Ángel Macías highlighted that "in the working meeting held this morning with the mayor of Lorca we have proposed new initiatives to stop the number of infections, among others, we will continue to disseminate all the information through the channels we have, also in social networks, communication media, in order to have a greater presence and be able to get these messages to a greater number of people ”.Finally, Diego José Mateos has once again asked for “the collective effort of all the citizens who live in Lorca since it is in everyone's hands to cut the chain of infections, complying with the mandatory use of the mask, with the hand washing and respecting the social safety distance ", and thanked" the full collaboration of the Consulate of Ecuador in the Region of Murcia in the health situation in which we find ourselves, and for which they have always been willing to assist us and cooperate".
