The PP emphasizes the safety of the local hospitality industry, encourages Lorca to go to the establishments and will propose new tax cuts for the sector (30/09/2020)

• The popular Lorca hope that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible, and that customers can enjoy the service inside the establishments themselves as soon as possible, taking into account the evolution of the pandemic. The president of the Popular Party of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the Lorca regional deputy, María del Carmen Ruiz, held a working meeting this morning with representatives of the Lorca Hoteliers Association (Hostelor), with the aim of informing them of the actions that have been developed by the Popular Party, both at the regional and local level with the aim of helping the sector in the face of the detrimental effects that the socioeconomic and labor crisis that the Covid-19 pandemic is having. At the local level, from the Popular Party we have managed, after many efforts and having to overcome the initial rejection of the current local government, to establish a line of direct aid of up to 2,000 euros to the hoteliers, merchants and freelancers of Lorca.

This is one of the proposals that we already put on the table last May within our LORCA RESPONDE PLAN, but which was met with the incomprehensible obstructionism of the PSOE.

This is a really effective measure for the sector, an initiative that contributes to cushioning the harsh effects of this crisis, which is hitting our hoteliers hard due to the need to maintain social distancing. Fulgencio Gil has stressed that the hospitality industry in Lorca is completely safe.

We share their discomfort because some sectors have been pointed out in a totally unfair way when contagions have increased at a general level, but the reality is that this sector is complying with the measures, taking extreme precautions and respecting each and every one of the conditions.

that have been requested by the health authorities. From the PP we reject outright the attacks that the sector is suffering, and we have called on all administrations to be understanding with the situation they are going through.

The hotel establishments of Lorca are safe, and we encourage citizens to continue enjoying the magnificent service they offer.

We are talking about family businesses, on which many people depend, and that generate a very notable economic activity, which has to be protected and encouraged We are working from municipalism to support this productive sector, which has suffered a malicious smear campaign over the last few months under the cover of anonymity behind which some unscrupulous people hide on social networks. Fulgencio Gil has indicated that we know that the city council has to do much more for our hoteliers, because currently the municipal council has more money than ever.

In fact, the 800,000 euros that have been spent on buying cars could well be serving to help these families, who are having such a hard time. The Popular Party has also demanded that Lorca merchants and hoteliers be given priority in accessing regional aid for the losses caused by the confinement, and has managed to get the city council to mediate with the electricity companies to make payments and debts more flexible, a measure that has managed to get it implanted directly in Aguas de Lorca for the payment of its bills. From the PP it has been achieved that the city council formally requests the government of Spain to extend the ERTE, as demanded by the sector, at least until April 2021, and that the reduction of the VAT of the hospitality industry to 4% is applied, following the positive experience that has been applied in several European countries. The Lorca regional deputy has underlined the effort that hoteliers are making to keep their establishments open despite the restrictions imposed by the Covid, which are totally necessary in accordance with the technical criteria of the experts and professionals of the public health services and epidemiology. We must point out that our Regional Government has established aid aimed at the sector, which has mobilized 5 million euros in direct aid, and has established loans of up to € 100,000 at 0% interest.

We are talking about a line of work that requires the involvement of all administrations, so we insist that the central government has to apply a VAT reduction in this sector, leaving it at 4%, as has already been done in several countries Europeans. Ruiz Jódar has insisted that the measures established by the hoteliers in their premises ratify the responsibility and maximum interest of these professionals so that their premises have the highest security against Covid.

We hope that this situation will be resolved as soon as possible, and that customers can enjoy the service inside the establishments themselves as soon as possible, taking into account the evolution of the pandemic. We have demanded that a crash plan be made immediately effective so that the city's hoteliers can double their terraces, and that the municipal technical services study the possibility of allowing the installation of candles for all those hoteliers who do not have service of terraces, yes, always trying to reconcile the hotel business with the respect and rest of the neighbors.
