Fulgencio Gil proposes a general lowering of the IBI taking advantage of the good state of the municipal accounts and the savings due to the cancellation of parties and events (30/09/2020)

The city council continues to store savings due to the massive suppression of acts as a result of Covid-19, and also has a surplus of 6.5 million euros and more than 12 million in treasury, with a debt drop of 71 million thanks to the management of the PP.Fulgencio Gil: "We have managed to establish municipal aid of up to 2,000 euros for our merchants, hoteliers and freelancers, and now we are working to achieve the effective reduction of the IBI that society demands and people deserve".The president of the Popular Party and spokesperson for this political formation in the city of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has proposed that the municipal council establish a generalized reduction in the Real Estate Tax (IBI) for next year as a measure of support to society in as a whole given the economic crisis we are suffering.

The best social, economic, and employment policy to do is to leave taxpayers' money in your pocket by lowering taxes. The lowering of the IBI for next year has gone from being an option to becoming an obligation.

We are talking about a measure of extreme necessity given the social, economic and labor crisis that the Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it, which has aggravated the deep problems that Lorca citizens have to pay the contribution since the socialist government of Pedro Sánchez unilaterally and irresponsibly suppressed the 50% IBI bonus, while the current local government ignored the issue. The elimination of this fiscal aid to those affected by the earthquake has been a real injustice and a disgrace.

It is absolutely unpresentable that the Pedro Sánchez government has marginalized those affected by the earthquakes in each and every one of the many Decree-Laws that it continually approves, most of them for minor issues.

The victims do not deserve this mistreatment, and it is clear that Pedro Sánchez has despised Lorca, with the complacency of the current mayor. As all Lorca residents already know, the city council now has more money than ever, with a surplus of 6.5 million euros and more than 12 million euros in treasury, thanks to the good management developed by the Popular Party throughout of our years of government.

The good health of the municipal coffers, and the available resources are obtained with the support of the Lorca society, and now they have to affect the pocket of the citizens, because it is under these circumstances when people need it.

From municipalism we have to reflect our commitment to people in the face of the problems they are going through, specifying it with the achievement of a general reduction in municipal taxes and fees.Last year the current mayor "sold" as a "great municipal effort" that, supposedly, the tax ordinances allowed a saving of 400,000 euros, and within a few months 800,000 have been spent on buying cars.

If they have had money to spend 800,000 euros to buy cars, there must also be a reduction in IBI for people, but a drop that truly means savings for citizens, after the aberrational abolition of the IBI bonus that is so damaging doing for all Lorca.

We propose that it be lowered, but not a mere reduction to save appearances, but with an effective significance for Lorca. The city council now has the result of years and years of effort and efficiency in management, in fact, the municipal coffers are now better than ever, with the capacity to respond effectively to the crisis of the pandemic.

In concrete figures, the 2019 budget has been settled with a treasury balance of € 12,374,203.35 and a budget result of € 6,182,736.38, this has been possible due to the sacrifice of all Lorca during the last years.

That money has to go to help our neighbors.

The municipal debt, for its part, we managed to cut it by more than 71 million euros, from 105.4 to 34,The consistory currently has more than enough economic resources for the savings that continue to be stored in the municipal coffers after the suspension of Holy Week, Fair Girl, concerts, cultural programs, parties in all neighborhoods and districts, Fair and Festivities of September, among other events.
