The Social Fund approved for 2020 was 150,000 euros, so, with this new endowment, it amounts to 210,000 euros.

It is a program for people in a situation of special vulnerability and risk of social exclusion to pay for basic supplies. The deputy mayor and councilor for Public Companies, Francisco Morales, and the councilor for Social Services, María Dolores Chumillas, have announced the increase in the Social Fund for Water by 60,000 euros until the end of this year, in addition to the 150,000 euros approved . The Councilor for Public Companies of the City of Lorca, Francisco Morales, recalled that "the City Council has maintained since 2016 a collaboration agreement between the Department of Social Services with the municipal company of Aguas de Lorca, through which the ' Extraordinary Social Fund of Aguas de Lorca.

'Through this agreement we have collaborated together and coordinated actions so that users of the drinking water service in a situation of economic precariousness can access the aid provided in said fund for the payment of supply of water and sewerage in Lorca thus avoiding the consequences of non-payment of these services ". The Lorca City Council maintains several active social intervention programs aimed at people in situations of special vulnerability and at risk of social exclusion, among which is the Social Water Bonus, which has been extended during 2017, 2018, 2019 and until Currently, for annual periods, the endowment of 150,000 euros is planned for 2020, to which another 60,000 euros are now added. In 2019, nearly 600 families benefited from the Social Water Fund.

Up to August 31, 534 subscribers were added to this fund, so it is estimated that there will be around 800 subscribers to attend in 2020, which means attending 34.17% more beneficiaries compared to last year.

Until that same date, the number of invoices attended amounted to 1,763, with an amount of 98,332 euros. In total, since 2016, the amounts served by the Social Water Fund have totaled 589,615.03 euros, to which must be added 50,450.98 euros not yet consumed, but committed to different subscribers to whom it has been granted, so the total spent or committed to date is 640,066.01 euros.

The expense forecast for this year is 218,255.85 euros. "In total, with the 60.00 euros approved in the last Board of Directors, when this year ends, the Fund approved since 2016 will amount to 860,000 euros to help Lorca families to meet their payments," Morales highlights. The Councilor for Social Services, María Dolores Chumillas, added that "among the criteria that are taken into account for the granting of the fund is being a user or family assisted in any of the services or benefits in force at the City Council's Social Services Center de Lorca, where needs related to the lack of means to cover basic needs have been assessed; be the holder of the water supply contract in the home that constitutes their habitual residence; have a recognized disability by the IMAS, or the voucher applicant or some of the members of the family unit, and have the title of large family ".
