Lorca is left without AVE, underground and connection with Andalusia until 2027 (01/10/2020)

All this was very clear yesterday in the Senate: the PP fighting for the AVE and the underground in Lorca, and the PSOE looking the other way and trying to put an amendment to hide their delays. Faced with all this, we demand that our municipality stop mistreating.

Pedro Sánchez has loaded all the planning of the Ministry of Development that the Popular Party left made, and that ensured the arrival of the AVE and the underground in Lorca in 2023, and instead of denouncing what is happening, the current mayor laughs at him thanks. The reality is that we will not have a high-speed train, or underground or connection with Almería in several years.

The arrival in Lorca still depends on solving the problem of the Totana variant, which is not even tendered, the burial would not be completed until, at least, 2026, and the connection with Andalusia, as the Table has already calculated in Defense of the Almería Railway, it will not be before 2027. We must remember that the government of Pedro Sánchez has already accumulated almost two years without explaining the technical difficulties that municipal officials detected, and that they forced to extend the distance to be buried to 3.6, since they had not contemplated the existence of a canalization of the transfer under the Rambla de las Señoritas, and the need to save the riverbed of the Guadalentín river with a depth that would provide the necessary safety conditions in case of floods.

The answer has been silence and oblivion. Adif put out to tender in January 2019 the consultancy and technical assistance for the drafting of the basic and platform and station construction projects for the integration of the railway, and has been blocked since then.

The contract has not been awarded.

When it is awarded, a period of 15 months will begin, to which must be added another 10 more for bidding and signing the contract.

To this will be added, in addition, the 36 months of the work.

Total; five and a half years, or what is the same, not before the end of the year 2026. Along with the decline in urban integration, we must add what is happening with sections such as the one that will have to join Lorca and Pulpí, which also accumulates delays; The project has not yet been tendered, which will take a year, to which must be added three years of works.

We are already talking about four years. The marginalization of the PSOE towards Lorca with this issue is scandalous, since instead of complying with the commitments that had already been reached, it has opted to take investments and money to other sites.

This hurts Lorca, because precisely the PSOE, which dismantled the tracks in the 80s when he ruled in Lorca, Murcia and Madrid, has lost the opportunity to compensate at least in part for the damage caused.
