The Popular Party proposes to end the impunity that protects the squatters (01/10/2020)

| To avoid the proliferation of cases in our municipal term | This problem is already affecting various areas of the city, neighborhoods and our districts.

We have to act now to prevent this from spreadingFor this we demand legal coverage to evict squatters in 12 hours, punish squatting with violence with jail and prohibit squatters from registering in occupied homes. The Popular Party spokesman in the Lorca town hall, Fulgencio Gil, has stated that we Lorca need a law that allows express evictions in 48 hours and jail sentences of one to three years for squatters, because the PSOE's sit-down policy has led squatters to champion at ease.

Clearly, society needs a strong law that protects the owner.

Therefore, from the Popular Party we are promoting a collection of signatures to fight against illegal squatting, a social scourge that increasingly affects more families who see how squatters act with impunity without there being a firm response from the Government of Spain.

We are carrying out this initiative through the change.es platform, together with a parliamentary offensive for public administrations to express their commitment to defending the right to private property and the fight against illegal squatting. Fulgencio Gil has stressed that the Popular Party is the great defender of private property and we cannot look the other way while, with impunity, they assault homes or second homes, whose owners with effort and savings have acquired.

That is why we urge the Government of the Nation to promote the appropriate legal reforms in order to fight in an agile way the illegal squatting of homes and, with this, guarantee the right to property, the safety of people and property and coexistence Social.

Squatting cannot be understood as a means of access to housing, but as a crime against private property, and the fact of not prosecuting this crime would mean giving carte blanche to a type of collective crime that, if the model spreads, can expand to other areas. The president of the Lorca PP has considered that the squatting cases that are already affecting various areas of the city and our districts do not constitute a right, but rather a violation of the law, so agile legal solutions must be pursued and provided, real and effective.

The governments of the PP are promoting measures to stop the mafias from settling in their territories, in fact, in our Region a plan has already been launched against these mafias that are dedicated to illegally occupying homes; early detection that will have the participation of the affected sectors in order to design a procedure that prevents them from settling in the Region. The senator of the PP, Francisco Bernabé, has stressed that, as in the Cortes Generales, "the PSOE in the Region will have to position itself either in favor of constitutional law or continue to comply with the demands of Sánchez's government partner, Pablo Iglesias, that freely defends the squatter movement.

" For Bernabé, "the PSOE is showing that it is willing to cross many red lines to keep Sánchez in Moncloa, as the King of Spain has shown today, he has been prohibited from attending the delivery ceremony of the judges, instead of solving the real problems of citizens who see their homes being stolen with impunity ". Bernabé has explained that the PP law claims that squatters can be evicted in 12 hours, that squatting with violence is punishable by imprisonment of 1 to 3 years.

Likewise, it is urged to prohibit squatters from registering in illegally occupied homes and thus defending coexistence and security among neighbors and giving legal personality to the communities of owners so that they can request a solution. The senator has stressed that "squatting cannot be understood as a means of access to housing, but as a crime against private property, and with this law the impunity of these organized gangs will be put to an end." The senator insisted that "these measures do not affect vulnerable groups that cannot pay their rent on their home, but rather the illegal squatting mafias."
