The Lorca University Campus is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

On October 4, 2010 its inauguration took place and the beginning of the course for the first students of the degree in Nursing and Human Nutrition and Dietetics taught by the UMU.

There are already about three thousand students who have been trained in our facilities with a high degree of satisfaction according to the latest survey published by the quality unit of the UMU, with respect to teaching activity, in terms of the skills and knowledge of their teachers.To these undergraduate students must be added the almost a thousand students from the Integrated Vocational Training Center that is also part of the University Campus and that is doing such a good job in teaching their Middle and Higher Cycle degrees and with a high degree of collaboration both with the Faculty and with the PONCEMAR Foundation.Students of our Faculty were already awarded in 2012 with the First National Prize "Meet Meeting @" granted by the Foundation for the Dissemination and Advances of Nursing.

(DAE).This year as a novelty, the double degree in Human Nutrition and Sports Sciences is being taught in collaboration with the Faculty of Sports Sciences of San Javier, in addition to the fact that next year the third degree in Occupational Therapy can be implemented and start as soon as possible with Master's studies in Gerontology in collaboration with the Poncemar Foundation, a foundation with which it collaborates very closely in the construction of a Day Center for the elderly, pioneer, in the sense that it was born with a care, teaching and research vocation, being integrated into our Faculty.We maintain a high degree of relationship with the Rafael Méndez Hospital, in which our students carry out the practices and with which we collaborate every year in the Nursing Conference of Area III.

These conferences are now in their eighth edition, and have established themselves as a benchmark in nursing for professionals and students at the Lorca University Campus.One of the objectives of this Campus was not to remain on the fringes of Lorca's life and society, for which it was agreed to establish an agreement between the Ministry responsible for Universities, the City Council of Lorca, the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Lorca ( CECLOR), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Lorca, the University of Murcia and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, an agreement that created the Consortium of the University Campus of Lorca.

This is the spirit by which we collaborate with each and every one of the organizations that request it, as the Training and awareness days on the problem of food of the Guadanatura Association of Food Producers and Consumers are already a classic.

Natural of the Guadalentín-,taking advantage of the anniversary of World Food Day, declared by FAO, which is celebrated on October 16.In this line of integration in Lorca society, the campus actively participates with very important outreach activities, such as the "Buy well to live better" campaign, nationwide, and that the Faculty has developed together with Eroski, as well as talks at Secondary schools on healthy eating, as well as participation in radio and television programs, such as "Hoy por hoy Lorca" on Cadena Ser, where nutrition is approached from different points of view.

The start-up of the DESMED project (Mediterranean Saciante Breakfast) Conduct by fourth year Nursing students of talks in different institutions, as is the case, for example, of those held in Centers for the elderly in relation to the prevention of falls,presence with several stands at the Health Fair organized by the City Council, in which our students perform blood pressure tests, sugar measurement, body mass index, etc.At present, work is being done on designing and executing a Socialization Room, demanded by the Dean of the Faculty, and especially by the Community of Campus students, which allows students, especially those residing outside of Lorca, having a place within the university campus, in which to interact with other students, to be able to have their leisure time, rest and others.

As well as in projecting and executing a Multigenerational Gymnasium in order to give our Campus an intergenerational character, within the Portico Project of sports infrastructures in collaboration with the UMU.

Also and in this line of achieving an intergenerational campus we have set up an ecological garden, in which the elderly of the Poncemar Day Center (currently under construction), can work together with volunteer students.To commemorate this important anniversary, from the Campus we have planned a series of events, of which we will inform and invite the entire educational community and Lorca society, if COVID allows us.
