Lorca was the second most affected municipality in the Region by the windstorm this Friday, only surpassed by Murcia in number of incidents (03/10/2020)

The 112 of Lorca received 16 calls alerting for various emergency situations related to the windstorm, while the Local Police and the municipal electricity service answered about 100 calls derived from power outages. The Councilor for Emergencies and Civil Protection of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, has reported the most notable incidents due to the west winds generated by the entry into the Iberian peninsula of the squall Alex, which affected Lorca yesterday, like the rest of the Region of Murcia. Isabel Casalduero explained that "the maximum gusts of wind reached 62 km / h in the urban area of ??Lorca, reaching its maximum intensity at 2:40 p.m., in the high districts the wind exceeded 75 km / h, with its maximum peak at 16:30 local time, although all the incidents took place in the urban area of ??Lorca and the Guadalentín valley ". Casalduero Jódar has detailed that "Lorca was the second most affected municipality in the Region of Murcia, due to the wind storm, surpassed only by Murcia in incidents.

In total throughout the afternoon of this Friday, 16 calls were received warning of various emergency situations related to the windstorm, which resulted in 11 interventions, attended by members of the Municipal Emergency Service, Fire Fighting Consortium, Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard and various municipal services ". The head of Emergencies has specified that "most of the warnings were related to the fall of branches, wiring and facade elements, also receiving some calls related to intermittent power cuts." In summary, of the 11 cases related to the windstorm, four referred to detachments of elements of building facades and wiring; five with fallen tree branches; and two others due to stubble burns that were fanned by the wind, generating small fires ". Regarding the Local Police and the municipal electricity service, about 100 calls were received arising from the cuts in the electricity supply, which were registered during a short space of everything, for almost the entire municipal term, related to strong gusts of wind.

In addition, the Local Police carried out various signals for the fall of objects and branches on a road.
