Diego José Mateos: "a request that we have made for many years and that, now, from the municipal government, we are turning into a reality, making an economic effort due to the circumstances we are going through, since we understand that it is an essential action for the well-being of our boys and girls ". The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilor for Education, Antonia Pérez, has reported the start of the municipal Shadow Plan with the placement of 14 awnings at the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús School of Early Childhood and Primary Education. Mateos has announced that "this government team has worked very hard to start one of the most important and necessary projects in the educational field of our municipality, the beginning of the creation of shaded spaces in our schools, what we call the Plan Sombra, and whose objective is to mitigate the high temperatures that are reached in our city and, with it, reduce the stress that our boys and girls and, also, our teachers and professors have been subjected to for many years ". The Mayor explained that "we are going to begin by installing 14 sliding awnings in the courtyard and on the sports court of the Sagrado Corazón de Jesús School of Early Childhood and Primary Education since there are many hours of sunshine and high temperatures that both students and teachers they are forced to endure, especially during the last hours of class.

" Mateos Molina has detailed that "this action is a historical claim of the Association of Parents who have participated, even with the sale of bracelets and the realization of the structure.

We, from the City Council of Lorca, are going to finance the project, with a budget for this first performance is 10,000 euros, covering 350 square meters of the center's surface ". Diego José Mateos has shown that "we now hope that the Regional Government, through the Ministry of Education, will join the work that we are carrying out from the Lorca City Council and that we have funding, as has happened in other municipalities, to to cover the courtyards and sports courts of our educational centers since, as is known, the incidence of the sun and the temperatures that are reached in Lorca are too high to continue letting our students be out in the open and without any protection ".
