The Lorca City Council carries out work inside the Guevara Palace (13/10/2020)

| To improve accessibility and avoid humidity in the side patio | These actions, which have been carried out through the Department of Local Development in collaboration with the Department of Culture, have consisted of the construction of new toilets, the waterproofing of the side patio, in the Plaza de la Bordadora and the installation of three new access ramps. The Councilors for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos and for Local Development, Isabel Casalduero, have reported on the work that has been carried out inside the Guevara Palace to improve accessibility and avoid humidity in the side patio. Isabel Casalduero explained that "these works that have been carried out through the Department of Local Development in collaboration with the Department of Culture, have consisted of the construction of a core of toilets in the Exhibition Hall, consisting of a lobby, male and female toilet that occupies an area of ??17 m2.

In addition, one of the toilets is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

Two built-in wardrobes have also been built in the toilet hall ". The mayor of Local Development has added that "actions have also been carried out in the side patio, specifically in the Plaza de la Bordadora, where slopes have been modified to avoid dampness on the palace's side facade wall that was caused due to the lack of slope of the pavement so that the rainwater flowed next to the wall of the facade ". Casalduero explained that "for this, the existing pavement has been demolished, making new slopes towards the existing drains, leaving these outside the side walls ensuring that there is a good evacuation of rainwater.

The patio has been waterproofed, to ensure that there are no leaks through the pavement that in turn affect the masonry walls ". The patio has been finished with a tile-colored terracotta pavement with 12-meter joints, later filled with cement mortar.

Regarding accessibility, improvements have also been carried out, specifically two ramps have been installed, one for access to the exhibition hall of the Salas Just Pharmacy and another in the main access to the Palace. The main access ramp has been built with a system of fixed wheels and a tilting system, which allows it to be installed and removed on a daily basis, since the entrance door opens inwards. Finally, the Councilor for Local Development hopes that "once the health situation improves, the Guevara Palace will be able to host visitors again to show all its splendor once the works on the main façade are also completed."
