The Book Exchange Bank (BILT) closes the 2020 campaign with a total of 3,460 copies collected, of which 1,838 have already been delivered to the families that had requested it (14/10/2020)

The mayor of Youth of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, has detailed that "the courses that have carried out the exchange of books in this edition have been those of the second, third and fourth of ESO and Baccalaureate, allowing significant savings for parents and mothers, since the manuals for the course together with the school supplies are equivalent to an average cost per child of about 350 euros ". The Councilor for Youth of the City of Lorca, José Ángel Ponce, took stock this morning of this year's 2020 edition of the Book Exchange Bank (BILT), held during the months of July, August and September. The Councilor for Youth has detailed that "in this edition the number of books collected by the BILT has been 3,460 of which 1,838 have been delivered.

In addition, in person, an average of 70 people have been attended to at the Bank of Books up to date, plus the information offered both by phone and by email ". José Ángel Ponce has specified that "in this school year due to the free textbook program in which all Primary education and the first year of Secondary Education participate, the courses that have carried out the exchange of books have been the second, third and fourth of ESO and Baccalaureate ". Ponce Díaz has pointed out "the expense of buying new books every year, which means a significant effort for the families of the municipality, therefore, we are committed to facilitating this known as 'back to school' through the exchange of books given the fundamental savings that this simple action entails since the manuals for the course together with the school supplies are equivalent, in monetary terms, to an average cost per child of about 350 euros ". The mayor of Youth has insisted that "in order to avoid crowds and comply with health standards due to the health situation of COVID-19, the attention to the public has been carried out outside the building, using protective screens, and always keeping the safety distance.

Likewise, both to leave books and for their withdrawal a system of previous appointment has been put in place ". José Ángel Ponce recalled that "the fundamental objectives of this project are to reduce the economic burden that families bear each year for the acquisition of textbooks; to introduce the value of books in a practical way in the education of children and its importance, both in the educational and sociocultural context, as well as recycling textbooks, and finally, contributing to an improvement of the environment ". Finally, the Councilor for Youth has stressed that "the BILT seeks to help parents, teachers and students to facilitate universal access to public education and, for this, initiatives of this type represent an important relief while betting for ethics and sustainability thanks to the reuse of books that avoid a greater waste of paper, as well as the use of an agile and modern online platform for consultation ".
