The City Council of Lorca asks to include the remodeling of the Bus Station and the connection with the Airport in the Master Plan for Passenger Transport in the Region of Murcia (15/10/2020)

It is also requested that the Plan take into account the construction of the sections of the Ronda, the undergrounding of the AVE, as well as that the management of the concessions in the lines of districts with the urban area be improved and the Regional Transportation Board is convened . The councilors of Mobility and Urban Planning and the Environment of the City of Lorca, Irene Jódar and José Luis Ruiz Guillén, have reported on the allegations presented to the Travelers Master Plan designed by the Government of the Region of Murcia. Jódar explained that "from the Lorca City Council, through the Mobility and Environment councils, we have sent a battery of allegations to the Passenger Transport Master Plan that has been designed by the Government of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia since it shows serious deficiencies and a great outdated data and infrastructures contemplated ". The mayor has detailed that "we have requested the call, in person or online, of the Regional Transportation Board to make an in-depth presentation of the Plan and that in the aforementioned call we are, at least, the municipal representatives of the city councils with a large population.

that since we have been in charge of the municipal government either this table has not been convened, or we have not been informed of said convocation.

" Jódar Pérez has insisted on "the essential inclusion of the Lorca University Campus in the University Teaching centers to improve communication and connection of said infrastructure due to the increase in students from the entire Region of Murcia who experience each course, as well as the connection direct between the International Airport of the Region of Murcia with our municipality, since it is incomprehensible that the third city of the Region is not included in the transport system ". The Councilor for Mobility has shown that "we request that the comprehensive remodeling of the Lorca bus station be incorporated into the Plan, since since the earthquakes of 2011 it presents serious structural damage that must be corrected and have suitable facilities at the level of passenger transport that we have.

" Irene Jódar has indicated that "we also demand better coordination and greater supervision and control between its General Directorate and the concession companies of the regular transport lines for general use, especially those that run through the districts of Lorca and connect them with the nucleus urban, with the aim of promoting this service among residents and achieving certainty and security about schedules, routes and itineraries, which passengers currently lack ". Among the proposals also stand out "the incorporation of the bicycle as a means of intermodal transport to promote its use, ecological, sustainable and healthy, facilitating its transfer in buses or trains and allowing passengers to finish their trips using it as well as the adaptation of the means of transport to guarantee universal and effective accessibility for people with reduced mobility ". For his part, the Councilor for Urban Planning and the Environment has asked that "the Plan take into account the major works planned in Lorca.

Since the project does not foresee the construction of future sections of the Ronda, nor the burying of the road high-speed rail or the Lorca-Caravaca highway ". In addition, José Luis Ruiz Guillén has asked "that the necessary measures be established to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in order to reduce the impact on climate change, so it is essential to contemplate the promotion of less polluting public transport systems and with less acoustic incidence ".
