detail of Lorca

Lorca accumulates two and a half years of delay waiting for the arrival of the hybrid trains for the modernization of the commuter service with Murcia and Águilas (19/10/2020)

Fulgencio Gil: "It is an investment of 8 million euros that the Popular Party started from the Ministry of Development, and that the PSOE of Diego José Mateos and Pedro Sánchez have suppressed, punishing Lorca to suffer the worst trains in all of Spain ".The spokesperson for the Popular Party in the Lorca city council and president of this political formation, Fulgencio Gil, has publicly denounced this morning that the socialist government of Pedro Sánchez and Diego José Mateos have once again punished the people of Lorca, condemning us to continue supporting the worst commuter trains in all of Spain, despite the fact that the Popular Party left the purchase of new convoys for this line signed and in progress 2 and a half years ago, which involved an investment of 8 million euros.

These new models were to modernize the service, replacing the old diesel 592 series, known as the "camels", the oldest in the country. We are facing a case identical to the one suffered with the construction of the Palace of Justice and the IBI bonus: the three issues for Lorca were underway with the central government of the Popular Party, but as soon as the PSOE of Pedro Sánchez and Diego José Mateos reached the power, they have been erased in one stroke With the renovation of our commuter trains, the same is happening as with other investments that were planned for our municipality but that the PSOE decides to question, stop and take the money elsewhere, all with the effusive applause of the mayor of the PSOE .The change of these old convoys, outdated, uncomfortable and polluting, was already included in the Plan for the Purchase of New Trains and was announced by Renfe.

Two and a half years later, we still have no news about it and we will not allow this commitment to be breached. This is a measure that the Ministry of Development already had in place, so we demand that it explain what is happening with the plan that the Popular Party had approved and put in place to completely renew the convoys of the trains of outskirts that communicate Lorca with Murcia and Águilas.

It is a commitment that was managed to start the national executive of Mariano Rajoy, but of which it has not been heard again. Two and a half years ago we welcomed the news of the change of these old trains and we even had an agreement with the Ministry of Development so that 8 million euros would be invested so that we Lorca could have trains in conditions, which would replace the old and uncomfortable convoys.

So much so that both Renfe and the government of Spain reached an agreement for the New Train Purchase Plan to include the new models, more modern, fast, comfortable, comfortable and ecological railways, which would have better access to people with mobility problems. From Lorca we demand that the agreement be respected and that those 8 million euros for our new trains remain in our city.

The commuter service is used daily by many Lorca, especially by workers and students, for whom we claim trains like those that already provide service in the rest of the country, since what we now have are the oldest units that exist in all of Spain .From the PP we have worked on this issue insistently, achieving even more than a year and a half ago that the Plenary of the city council claimed that Lorca was the first city in our Region to benefit from the start-up of the new hybrid commuter trains that the government of Spain announced that they were going to be acquired.According to the news transmitted more than a year and a half ago by Renfe, a dozen hybrid trains would have had to arrive in our Region to cover the commuter service.

They are convoys made up of 3 cars plus a generator van, being able to circulate both electrified and non-electrified, which will allow the replacement of diesel material.Fulgencio Gil has stated that it is time for the central government to stop mistreating Lorca in railway matters, in fact, they have to fulfill the historical debt that this country has with our municipality for having closed the lines that communicated with us in the 1980s.

Almería and Granada.

That cut was a real disaster for both Lorca and our neighbors in Andalusian municipalities.

It is time for them to begin to compensate us for that irresponsibility perpetrated by the PSOE when it governed in Lorca, Murcia and Madrid.
