The PP proposes that the city council intervene to unblock the agreement for the La Viña electrical substation, taking advantage of the land for young housing (20/10/2020)

| Rosa Medina: "We want to change a lot of bad memory for everyone for an injection of life for the whole area | We are talking about 23,741 square meters that we have the opportunity to turn into an urban revulsion, into homes for young families " The general secretary of the Popular Party of Lorca, Rosa Medina, has proposed that the city council intervene to unblock the agreement signed between Iberdrola and Uneprocon, with the subsidiary endorsement of the city council itself, which affects the site previously occupied by the La Viña electrical substation, with the aim of undertaking responsible, orderly and socially profitable urban development in this area of ??the city. Rosa Medina has stated that it is an exciting project, for which we reach out to all political groups with municipal representation because we believe that its size and social impact must have the consensus of all to move it forward.

The intervention we propose contemplates changing the outdated forecasts made in 2003 to build 600 homes in 13-story blocks, for an orderly development of the available land.

We have the opportunity to design a new space, with large green areas, modern buildings and even reserve land to house socio-cultural facilities (study rooms, libraries ...) so that the neighborhoods of La Viña and San Antonio are integrated. From the Popular Party we want the investment boost that this area of ??the city is receiving not to stop, but to continue, this time with the urban development of the site that has left the old La Viña electrical substation free.

We are talking about a large bag of land that constitutes an opportunity for renewal, to inject life and social movement into this enclave of the city.

For this, we propose that the city council immediately resume the negotiations opened at the time to unblock the situation in which this site is currently located with the aim of leading the construction of an urban block for young housing and endowment land. We propose this project from the Popular Party because we firmly believe that it is an ideal solution to take advantage of this site socially.

The intervention of the city council has to prevent this site from remaining anchored in time for more years, and we consider it necessary that it be carried out precisely now, when this area of ??the city is going to benefit from the long-awaited disappearance of the San Antonio traffic junction thanks to the investment of 3.6 million euros obtained by the Popular Party.

It is time to take advantage of this impulse and structure this area of ??the urban area by communicating La Viña and San Antonio as their neighbors deserve. Rosa Medina has pointed out that the area between the confluence of the neighborhoods of San Antonio, La Viña, Los Peñones and Bertrand is developing one of the most outstanding urban transformations of our urban area, thanks to the boost given in this regard by the Popular Party . In recent years this area has become the most ideal location for the arrival of investments from different firms dedicated to catering and domestic supply. This area of ??the urban center has been confirmed as a new commercial, leisure, services and communications space, perfectly connected to a bike lane, and that we have managed to evolve to become an attractive area, with urban and endowment expansion, new construction and Settlement focus for the establishment of new investors (Mercadona, Aldi, McDonalds, Burger King, KFC ...) During the years of the Popular Party government, we managed to get a bike lane of several kilometers long, which runs from Avenida Adolfo Suárez to the Saprelorca industrial estate, the integral arrangement of the La Viña neighborhood, the old Granada road, the neighborhood of Cristo Rey- La Salud, and now we undertake the urban renewal of the San Antonio neighborhood and the correction of the worst mistake that Lorca has suffered in urban planning; the dire access to the A-7 highway, which left the urban case with a scar whose pernicious effects have harmed Lorca for decades. Thanks to the management of the PP, we also promoted the establishment of three powerful chains of hypermarkets and wholesale, DIY firms, a gym, the relaunch of a well-known hotel establishment and several gas stations.

More recently, a restaurant establishment for an international fast food franchise and other private businesses were set up in the Los Peñones industrial estate.
