"Thanks to the administrative streamlining policies promoted by the regional government to reactivate the economy, we have managed to carry out this project", explained López Miras, during the inauguration of section 2 of this infrastructure "which will mean the largest investment made in the new Lorca , with more than 26 million euros, and is a sign of the regional government's commitment to this city.

" The commissioning of section 2 of the Central Round of 422 meters has involved an investment by the Autonomous Community of 3.8 million euros, and includes a new bridge over the Guadalentín river, "which will improve the connectivity and mobility of Lorca, the backbone of this city and unites even more Lorca, "said the president. First bridge with central V-pile The new bridge that includes this section of the Ronda Central de Lorca is the first of its kind with a V-shaped central pier to be built on the regional road network.

It is 116 meters long and 21.5 meters wide, it has two carriageways of 7 meters each that are structurally separated, so in reality it is two identical bridges attached to each other, and it has a sidewalk and bike lane 3 meters wide.

"Without a doubt it will be one of the symbolic infrastructures of Lorca and the Region of Murcia", López Miras stressed. The new infrastructure has two lanes of seven meters in each direction which increases the safety and comfort of the drivers who circulate along it, and also represents a guarantee for circulation in times of heavy rain and an increase in capacity.

drainage in case of floods. Likewise, the opening of the new section will have an effect on a notable improvement in traffic flow as it will decongest the Juan Carlos I and Europa avenues, since it will mean taking more than 7,000 vehicles a day from the city center. The work has been completed with the construction of two roundabouts at the ends of the new bridge that will favor the connection of the San Diego and Santa Clara neighborhoods because it will make it possible to provisionally connect section 2 of the ring road with the existing roads.

The roundabout on Calle Juan Antonio Dimas has an outer diameter of 28 meters and allows the connection of the beginning of section 2 with existing roads; and the second, with an elliptical shape, 22 meters long and 12 meters long, makes it possible to connect the end of section 2 with Avenida Santa Clara.
