The battery of municipal aid of 2,000 euros for the self-employed, merchants and self-employed promoted by Fulgencio Gil remains blocked due to the inoperation of the current mayor (23/10/2020)

The Popular Party demands that Mr.

Mateos immediately activate the aid line promoted by Fulgencio Gil because we are not going to allow a repeat of what happened with the "alms" of the current mayor, who has taken more than 6 months to pay the petitioners. The Councilor for Commerce in the town hall of Lorca for the Popular Party, Francisco Javier Martínez, has demanded the current mayor implement immediately the aid line of 2,000 euros for merchants, hoteliers and freelancers from Lorca that Fulgencio Gil has managed to activate from the municipal council.

This new support system for the productive fabric has not been launched yet because the current mayor has already accumulated a month of delay in the publication of the rules that govern it.It cannot be that this new battery of aid is heading along the same erratic line to which Mr.

Mateos condemned the previous model of "tips and change." We must remember that the mayor of the PSOE insisted on imposing a system of aid that has been a resounding failure, despite the fact that we warned him of his mistake both from the Popular Party and by Ceclor, Chamber of Commerce and the Platform of Autonomous (PLAU).

The result has been a real catastrophe, since some of the beneficiaries of these "tips" are going to receive them when they have even been forced to close their businesses, irrefutable proof that the model of Mr.

Mateos leads us to failure. We demand that the aid of 2,000 euros, which follows the line that Fulgencio Gil already put on the table last April within our LORCA RESPONDE PLAN, be activated before the end of this month.

We will not allow the current mayor to condemn us again to repeat his mistakes because he is unable to learn from his mistakes.

This new line of aid promoted by Fulgencio Gil has to meet the objective and the conditions with which it was raised: direct delivery to the self-employed, merchants and hoteliers after the presentation of a responsible declaration.

We hope that Mr Mateos is not thinking of other administrative tricks that lead the beneficiaries to repeat frustration and disappointment. If the intentions of the mayor of the Socialists are to persevere in his mistakes, we advise him to be very clear about the disastrous balance of his previous proposal, which left half of the petitioners without help and only delivered a quarter of the money committed. These aid will not be bonuses or exemptions from municipal taxes and fees, but direct subsidies to those affected, that is, money so that our productive fabric can cushion the harmful effects that it brings in the form of economic losses. We want to make it clear that the reductions in local taxes and municipal rates are going to be required as an essential condition within the next tax ordinances, both for these groups and for all citizens in general, given that the city council now has more money than never: 6.5 million euros in savings and 12 in treasury. We must anticipate that we will be particularly vigilant so that this specific agreement is executed in the agreed terms, since the situation that merchants and hoteliers are suffering does not allow delays.

Therefore, we demand that it be expedited as much as possible, since every day that passes is time that we lose.

The battery of direct aids that we have managed to carry out constitutes real and effective support for these professionals.

The aids that we have agreed upon will have a direct and complementary nature to those that can be implemented by the rest of the public administrations. With the implementation of Fulgencio Gil's proposal we will be able to immediately activate a line of "direct and fast" municipal subsidies of up to 2,000 euros for all those merchants, hoteliers and SMEs that have seen their sales income reduced by 40% in in recent months due to the socioeconomic and employment crisis that the municipality suffers as a result of the restrictions caused by Covid-19.In addition to this savings, and the remaining treasury that amounts to 12 million euros, the city council has the savings that continue to accumulate in the municipal coffers because the different items of events such as Easter, Fairs, Sepor, have not been spent, Fericab, closing of swimming pools, services and sports facilities, among others. We are suffering a social and economic crisis whose effects threaten to be devastating, putting at serious risk the continuity of thousands of small and medium-sized companies, family businesses, self-employed jobs, and paid jobs.

Behind the cold statistics that we hear every day of closed businesses and establishments, there are families with names and surnames suffering minute by minute that they have been left to their own devices after spending many years trading and creating wealth. Our proposals also include that the city council formally request the government of Spain to extend the ERTE, as claimed by the sector, at least until April 2021, and that the reduction of the VAT of the hotel industry to 4% be applied, following positive experience that has been applied in several European countries.

We also propose that an immediate shock measure be made effective so that the city's hoteliers can double their terraces, and that the technical services study the possibility of allowing the installation of candles for all those hoteliers who do not have terrace service, yes, always trying to reconcile the hotel business with the respect and relaxation of the neighbors.
