It is a battery of improvements that are carried out with the supervening difficulty of the restrictions due to Covid-19.The expansion of the emergency door of the Rafael hospital will have a direct impact on the provision of better patient care.

We are talking about some works, which total more than 900,000 euros, which are already tendered, and which will begin with the creation of a differentiated pediatric care service.

The works project includes the expansion of the Emergency Room for specialized pediatric care, having a waiting room and independent care boxes for adults, ensuring a double care circuit against the coronavirus.

The total budget for all the actions, which will be carried out in two successive phases, amounts to 912,179 euros. The works of the first phase, which have already been tendered by the Ministry of Health, will allow the separation of pediatric patient circuits, enable an independent nursing triage for the individualized care of patients and the conditioning of two rooms of differentiated waiting for respiratory and non-respiratory processes.Over the last few days, the Ministry of Health has reinforced the radiology service in our municipality with new technology to improve patient care.

The expansion and renovation works in the diagnostic imaging area, which total more than 700,000 euros, will begin shortly to house a new MRI equipment.

In this way, the Rafael Méndez hospital has strengthened its radiology service with a new magnetic resonance and adaptation to the existing CT scan.

These are works that start with a maximum duration of 4 months, involve an investment of 717,530 euros and are used to support the operation of the new MRI acquired for 1.2 million euros through a collaboration agreement signed with the Amancio Ortega Foundation. We must point out that the Gynecology service offered at Rafael Méndez has also increased the number of physicians for improvement, in such a way that the health area has expanded consultations in the afternoons to guarantee safety gauges against Covid -19.

The incorporation of two new gynecologists implements care for Lorca, since these professionals, in addition to treating women's pathologies, are responsible for obstetric care, which in the health area is very important due to the high number of follow-ups of pregnancy and deliveries that occur every year. The Health Ministry has also promoted the start-up in Lorca of a special work group to support individualized patient care, mainly in the follow-up of COVID19 cases and contacts, area III, training a group of professionals who since September 21, they have been helping with these tasks, allowing primary care centers to attend to patients for other health problems.

Currently the team is made up of 10 nurses and 5 assistants, who are collaborating daily in the management of 1,600 COVID19 follow-ups, thus allowing health centers to perform other tasks After a training phase and providing infrastructure adequate,The professionals have been in the definitive facilities at the Santa Rosa de Lima Specialty Center since October 5.
