PP: The classrooms of the Lorca schools will have air purifiers equipped with HEPA filters capable of neutralizing the Covid, thanks to the initiative of the PP (26/10/2020)

| Pedro Mondéjar: "we will be especially vigilant so that this resource is delivered to the schools as soon as possible We cannot waste time | If someone detects delays in the provision of these devices, they should contact us to expedite it " The Councilor for Education in the town hall of Lorca for the Popular Party, Pedro Mondéjar, has reported that all classes in the schools in our municipality will have air purifying devices equipped with HEPA filters, capable of eliminating 99, 9% of Covid particles.

It is an initiative presented by the PP before the plenary session of the city council this morning, which has had the support of all political groups with municipal representation, and through which the municipal council has acquired the commitment to acquire these devices for each and every one of the classrooms of the schools in our municipality. Pedro Mondéjar has stated that we have had to work hard to overcome the reluctance of the current local government in this regard, which was not in favor of carrying out this initiative, but thanks to the support of the other parties, common sense has prevailed.

We are talking about a very effective resource to minimize the risk of contagion of coronavirus among students and teachers, the acquisition of which does not imply a major economic effort for the municipal council, since we are talking about approximately 50,000 euros, less than a fifth of what they have saved by canceling the Teatro Guerra programming (€ 280,000), and "small change" compared to the 800,000 euros that are being spent on buying cars with the tax money paid by Lorca. We cannot miss the opportunity to provide our educational centers with this type of tools of proven effectiveness.

All prevention is little to prevent our children, students and teachers, from falling ill with COVID-19.

The more prevention measures we adopt, the more difficult we will be putting it to outbreaks and infections.

We know that there are already AMPAS that are considering acquiring these devices, an expense that they could well spend on other issues. There are quite good systems with HEPA filters (high efficiency) that filter the air, retaining more than 99% of the particles with the virus that are retained in the filter and clean air leaves the room.

For efforts to focus on cleaning the air and providing guidance on how to avoid hazardous indoor environments. We have to bear in mind that the experts have made it clear that closed spaces, such as classrooms, increase the risk of contagion, so we have to work to minimize it, especially in ventilation issues.

It is true that opening the windows and doors of the classroom helps to achieve correct ventilation, but it is not always possible to resort to this gesture, since the temperatures of the months in which we enter prevent it. According to the unified criteria of the international scientific community, the coronavirus is a disease that is transmitted mainly through the air, and at least 75% of infections are caused by inhalation of aerosols, infected particles that float in the air and that we breathe.

The aerosols float in the air and infect when breathed in. We must remember that the regional government of the Popular Party has prepared the return to the classrooms by hiring 1,500 new teachers, 40,000 computer devices, an additional 2 million for dining rooms, 5 million for the provision of spaces, an additional 5 million for the operation of educational centers, 2, 5 million for works, 2 million in aid for cleaning, of which almost 160,000 for Lorca, more than one million to reinforce cleaning contracts, 15,000 euros for thermometers, an additional 500,000 for protective equipment for centers and also several programs such as the program "Clean air", with a staff of 12,500 per center.
