The Plaza de Calderón will host this coming Saturday a gala of flamenco singing and dancing entitled ´Otoño Flamenco Ciudad del Sol´ (27/10/2020)

The Councilor for Culture, María Ángeles Mazuecos, recalled that "due to the current health crisis it has not been possible to celebrate this year's edition of the International Flamenco Singing Festival and instead this event has been organized for the enjoyment of all the fans of this art in our municipality ".October 27, 2020.

The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos, presented, this morning, together with the president of the Flamenco Cultural Peña 'Ciudad del Sol', Cayetano Padilla and Luis Terry, Coordinator of the Ciudad del Sol Festival Sol, the flamenco singing and dancing performance scheduled for this coming Saturday, October 31, under the title 'Autumn Flamenco Ciudad del Sol', as well as its poster.The mayor of Culture recalled that "due to the current health situation that has prevented the realization of this edition of the International Festival of Flamenco Singing" Ciudad de Sol ", the Directorate of the Peña Cultural Flamenca de Lorca as organizer, together with the City Council and the Department of Culture as sponsors, it has been decided to celebrate this flamenco gala for the enjoyment of all fans of this art.

"María Ángeles Mazuecos has pointed out that "this event will take place in the Plaza Calderón from 4:00 p.m., in the open air, respecting all sanitary measures and with free admission until full capacity is reached".For his part, the president of the Peña Cultural Flamenca 'Ciudad del Sol', Cayetano Padilla, explained that "this flamenco gala will feature the performance of Antonio José Nieto, from Lucena, Córdoba, as a guest artist, which has a wide curriculum of participation in the most prestigious peñas, festivals and contests of saetas and flamenco singing.Among others, in 2011 he was Malagueñas first prize at the Las Minas de La Unión International Cante Festival and first prize, also, in the contest of fandangos in Canal Sur Televisión "Se Busca Talento".

And finalist in the International Festival of Cante de las Minas de la Unión in Fandangos.

In 2014, Sol de Plata in the International Festival of Flamenco Singing "Ciudad del Sol" in Lorca.

He has studied guitar in Jerez de la Frontera with Pascual de Lorca, José María Molero and Fernando Moreno.

Accompanying and performing with singers such as Perlita de Huelva, Sonia la Húngara,Rocío Márquez, Fosforito, Juanito Valderrama and India Martínez.

He has also been a guitarist in flamenco singing competitions and festivals, to name a few: the Ciudad del Sol Flamenco Festival in Lorca, the "Murcia Flamenca" Festival and the Lo Ferro International Flamenco Singing Festival.

Reverte will also perform from Lorca, with a degree in Flamenco Dance from the Luis del Río Dance Conservatory in Córdoba.

She has been part of the cast of artists of Córdoba Ecuestre en Caballerizas Reales and dancer of the renowned flamenco violinist Paco Montalvo.

She is currently studying Dance Pedagogy at the prestigious CSD Maria de Ávila, in Madrid.

He has recently started a project in Sweden of Arab, jazz and flamenco fusion, with an orchestra made up of 22 musicians of different nationalities, with a tour scheduled for 2021 in the Nordic countries.The cante, dance and guitar of these young artists from Lorca will be accompanied by the rhythm of the flamenco cajón by José Luis Sánchez Fernández, from Torre Pacheco.

This other young percussionist is currently completing the Higher Degree in Flamencology in Córdoba and has also trained with teachers such as "Piraña", Miguel Lamas, Joel Páez and Manuel Reina.The poster entitled "Flamenco de Colores" is the work of the young artist from Cehegín, Cristóbal Rodríguez Martínez.

He was the second classified in the poster contest that was called for the festival last year and for this reason, it has been decided that he will represent this gala.

Cristóbal Rodríguez graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Murcia in 2018, Master's Degree in Teaching at ESO and Baccalaureate from the University of Granada and obtained an Erasmus grant to carry out an internship as a designer in Pilsen, Czech Republic.

Currently he combines the preparation of public exams with his own artistic projects.

Recently, he has also been the winner of the XXXI Poster Contest of the Biology Week of the University of Murcia.The opening and closing of the gala will feature the performance of the Rociero Group "Las Marismas", formed in 2015 and directed by María Rosario Campos.

It is made up of young people from Lorca of different ages who began to dance and train in dance at an early age.

They have been performing on various stages interpreting a great variety of dances and dances, both folkloric and flamenco styles.

The group was invited, for the first time, in the2019 to perform at the Guerra de Lorca Theater on the occasion of the "Ciudad del Sol" International Flamenco Singing Festival, where they had a warm welcome from the public.
