Fulgencio Gil proposes the immediate recovery of the permanent staff of Local Police that patrolled the streets of the San Cristóbal neighborhood on foot (27/10/2020)

The PP proposes to give greater visibility to the work of the local police in the neighborhood and the recovery of joint controls with the bodies and state security forces that have also stopped being done, as the residents of the area have transferred to us.The Popular Party spokesman has also proposed the establishment of special services by the Local Police between 23:00 and 6:00 to monitor compliance with the measures to stop the coronavirus pandemic. The spokesman for the Popular Party in the Lorca city council, Fulgencio Gil, has proposed the immediate recovery of the permanent staff of the Local Police that patrolled the San Cristóbal neighborhood on foot.

We have met with the residents of the neighborhood repeatedly over the last few months, continuing with the line of work that we have been developing in relation to this neighborhood, and they have constantly sent us their complaint because the current mayor has withdrawn from the streets from San Cristóbal to the Local Police.

We have been told that this service implemented by the Popular Party has been suppressed, with the consequent disbelief and anger of the neighbors. They have also made it clear to us, and thus they have told us that they have also warned Mr.

Mateos, that they want the agents of the Local Police patrolling at street level, not locked between four walls, in a place, as the mayor of the PSOE.

We fully support this neighborhood petition, because it coincides with what we have already been saying from the first moment; where the police have to be is on the street.

However, the reality is that citizens feel insecure due to the very limited presence of agents, and disappointed by the attitude of the current mayor, who rules with his back to the people. From the Popular Party we demand that the security model implemented in September 2018 be recovered, with the permanent presence of the Local Police in the area of ??the San Cristóbal neighborhood.

We demand that the daily controls that were carried out when we governed this town hall be carried out again, and the immediate restitution of the foot patrols through the neighborhood every day, both in the mornings and in the afternoons, providing special service to citizens, neighbors and merchants until 10:00 pm, once the usual closing time of establishments and businesses in the area has passed.

This was what the PP did, and it is what the neighbors demand that it be recovered.Fulgencio Gil has indicated that the city council can do much more than what it is doing in the neighborhood, and in the specific case of citizen security, no one understands why instead of spending 800,000 euros on cars with our tax money, no they reserve these economic resources for what the neighbors really need.

The local police have to walk the streets of the neighborhood again to contribute to the safety of the residents of the area, since it is more than proven that foot patrols are an effective resource due to their preventive and dissuasive nature, with the in order to avoid a hypothetical commission of infractions. The president of the Popular Party of Lorca has also proposed the establishment of shifts and special services from the Local Police to ensure compliance with the new regulations established with the aim of combating the pandemic caused by the coronavirus.

These are shifts to give special coverage to the period between 23:00 and 6:00 in the morning, a measure that is already being applied in other municipalities to adapt to current circumstances.
