This is the second phase of cleaning this area, between La Peñica and El Escarambrujo; the first took place last March, when 1,500 kilos of garbage were collected, including furniture, electrical appliances, clothing and household goods, among others. The Deputy Mayor of Lorca and Councilor for Public Companies, Francisco Morales, and the Councilor for the Environment of the City Council of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, have reported on the second phase of cleaning carried out in a section of the Guadalentín riverbed, including between La Peñica and El Escarambrujo, thanks to which 169 tons of uncontrolled waste have been removed. Francisco Morales recalled that "on March 9, the first phase of cleaning took place, through the municipal cleaning company Limusa, in that same stretch of the river, in which 1,500 kilos of waste accumulated by human action were collected.

In this case it was furniture, electrical appliances, clothing, household goods and other waste. For his part, José Luis Ruiz Guillén has detailed that "the new cleaning work has been carried out by a Lorca company specialized in this type of action, in coordination with this council, and all the debris collected will be deposited in the place indicated for it.

" The mayor of the Environment has insisted that from "the Department of the Environment and Citizen Security, the necessary human resources will be put in place, in order to maintain the riverbed in good quality and conservation conditions, and the pertinent measures will be adopted to prosecute this type of criminal behavior, which we recall is prohibited and punished ". Finally, Morales, as head of Limusa, has insisted on "the need to keep our river bed clean and properly preserved.

The municipal cleaning company offers citizens a wide variety of options for proper management of this waste.
