The Lorca City Council launches the 'Christmas Schools for Conciliar and Coeducation', from December 24 to January 5, with 81 places (12/11/2020)

The Department of Equality has developed a program of activities for boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 12 that will take place from Monday to Friday, from 7:45 a.m.

to 3:15 p.m., in the schools of San Fernando; Ana Caicedo Richard and Pasico-Campillo. The Councilor for Equality of the City Council of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, has announced the celebration of a new edition of the 'Christmas Schools for Reconciling and Co-educating'. Pérez has reported that "from the Department of Equality, once again, we are launching the 'Christmas Schools to Conciliate and Co-educate'.

A new edition of special relevance because of the situation in which we find ourselves, due to the health pandemic that plagues us, has produced an increase, precisely, in the need to reconcile family life with work.

" "For this reason, we are going to make available to all those families that have the need to reconcile the care of their children with work a total of 81 places that will be distributed in groups of 27 boys and girls in three schools, San Fernando; Ana Caicedo Richard and Pasico-Campillo.

In turn, to guarantee the hygienic sanitary measures derived from the pandemic caused by Covid-19, the students will be subdivided into groups of 9 with a monitor for each class ". The mayor explained that "this program, which will take place from December 24 to January 5, Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m.

to 3:15 p.m., will help provide a service as essential as it has been manifested during these months, the reconciliation of work and family life in our municipality, since it will allow to attend to boys and girls aged between 3 and 12 years, enrolled in nursery and primary education centers throughout the municipal term or that appear in the municipal register of inhabitants of Lorca, while their parents are working or receiving training for employment ". "Our objective is clear, we want to facilitate mothers and fathers both the development of their work functions and access to training for employment by providing conciliation services in our municipality.

A function that also includes transmission to children and participating girls, attitudes and coeducational values, educate in equality and contribute to the elimination of gender roles and stereotypes through play and artistic expression ". Pérez Segura has detailed that "they will develop games and presentation dynamics; healthy workshops in which they will learn how to protect their health and also that of the people around them and, especially, they will be provided with information on prevention and hygiene measures against the coronavirus.

They will participate in workshops on responsibilities and shared tasks in the home and family; on the expression of feelings; on women in history or on creativity and artistic expression or theater and coeducational stories, aimed at promoting reading without establishing differences between men and women, boys and girls, recycling and caring for the environment as well as an End of School Party ". "The entire program of activities as well as the ratio of male and female students has been redesigned from the Department of Equality, following strict compliance with the hygienic measures established by the health authorities to guarantee maximum safety for all participating boys and girls as well as the monitors themselves ". The Councilor for Equality has indicated that "the deadline for submitting applications opens today, November 12 and will end on December 2 and delivery of the inscriptions may be made at the General Registry of the City of Lorca or through the headquarters Electronic Office of the Lorca City Council, https://www.portalciudadano.lorca.es ". Antonia Pérez recalled that "this activity forms the second phase of the global program 'Schools for Conciliation and Coeducation' in which the schools that start up each year in summer and Easter are also integrated, since it involves the three great holiday periods in which the fathers, mothers and guardians of children find it more difficult to combine childcare and work ". "The schools are promoted by the Department of Equality of the Municipality of Lorca, and in which the Department of Education also collaborates, being subsidized by the Department of Women, Equality, LGTBI, Families and Social Policy of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, as a subsidized line of action within the European Social Fund Operational Program for the period 2014-2020 ".
