The European Network of Holy Week and Easter Celebrations, of which Lorca holds the first vice-presidency, presents the I Congress 'Holy Week, a Common Heritage' (12/11/2020)

Francisco Morales, who holds the first vice presidency of the Network, has reported that said Congress will be held virtually and will be structured in five thematic areas in which work will be done from a global perspective and looking for historical elements and shared traditions The Deputy Mayor of Lorca and Councilor for Tourism, Francisco Morales, who also holds the first vice-presidency of the European Network of Easter and Easter Celebrations, has announced the celebration of the 1st Congress "Holy Week, a Common Heritage".

The event will take place on March 12 and 13, 2021 and will address Holy Week in Europe from a global perspective, seeking to highlight the historical elements and shared rituals, as well as the study of the validity of the Holy Week celebrations in the field.

European. Francisco Morales stressed that "this activity has as its main objective to promote and disseminate the cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, of the Holy Week celebrations." Registration for it will be free and will be done online, through conferences and round tables developed by specialists in the field from different countries.

This action is one of the different activities that the European Network of Easter and Easter Celebrations has planned and which will be divided into 5 thematic areas: Easter as a common European heritage; history and anthropology of Holy Week in Europe; artistic manifestations; the incidence of Easter in the field of tourism and the role of collaboration and exchange that the creation of a European network could play.

All this at a time where the celebration of the party is subject to the limitations that are brought about by the Covid-19 health crisis and where it is of vital importance to value the common heritage. Registration can now be done on the web www.congresosemanasanta.eu The European Network of Holy Week and Easter Celebrations was created in 2019 and it includes: the Italian Federico II Foundation, representing the municipalities of Palermo and Caltanissetta, from Sicily (Italy); the municipality of Birgu in Malta; the Commission for Lent and Holy Week Celebrations in Braga, in Portugal; Representations of the Passion of Christ in Skofja Loka, Slovenia; the municipalities that are part of the Caminos de Pasión route: Alcalá la Real in Jaén, Baena, Cabra, Lucena, Priego de Córdoba and Puente Genil in Córdoba and Carmona, Écija Osuna and Utrera in Seville.

Also within the Spanish geography we find Orihuela in Alicante; I live in Lugo and Lorca. Its objective is to promote and disseminate cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, related to the celebrations of Holy Week and Easter through actions that are not only based on tourism and cultural promotion, but also safeguard heritage.
