Martín explained that, through a notification signed by the Secretary General of Public Works, Enrique Ujaldón, the victims are informed of the estimate of the replacement resources that were drawn up by the Municipal Group of Izquierda Unida-Verdes and presented by the residents . The legal basis for estimating the resources, which involves the filing of the case and, therefore, that those affected do not have to return the aid or the payment of late payment interest, has to do with the application of the Autonomous Law 2/2020 , of July 27, which replaces two other regulations that were approved in the Regional Assembly thanks to pressure from the affected platform coordinated by Martín. By virtue of the application of this law, some 5,300 families from Lorca "will finally put a nightmare that has lasted three years and has led to the filing of hundreds of allegations and appeals before the regional administration." Finally, the use of the subsidies will be considered justified to the people who presented a supporting report together with a certificate issued by a competent technician.

All cases will benefit from this measure in which the sum of the subsidy and the compensation from the Insurance Compensation Consortium does not exceed the value of the expert opinion made by the technicians of the Autonomous Community. Martín explained that the situation of those families who received aid and compensation from the Consortium for an amount greater than the assessment of the damage remains to be resolved.

"The administrations are not taking into account the hidden damages that appeared later and the real cost that the works finally had, which was higher than initially estimated," explained the mayor. In those cases, the mayor has trusted that the application of the statute of limitations will benefit a good part of these families, and has ratified IU's commitment to "continue accompanying the victims who have exhausted the path in their fight in the courts administrative ".

"We are satisfied because our work has already helped thousands of residents, but we are going to exhaust all possibilities for those who still continue to suffer this ordeal," concluded Gloria Martín.
