Photographic Marathon "Lorca: The looks of the Three Cultures" (17/11/2020)

| The Department of Culture and Tourism organize together with the Popular University and the San Clemente Federation the Photographic Marathon "Lorca: The looks of the Three Cultures" | The event will take place this Saturday and will be divided into three routes that will feature areas of our city with Jewish, Christian and Muslim influence; The jury will assess the technical quality and originality of the images, as well as those that best reflect the essence of the toursThe vice mayor of Lorca and councilor for Tourism, Francisco Morales, presented, this morning, together with the coordinator of the Popular University, Miguel Pérez Cortijos, and the president of the Federation of San Clemente, Luis Torres del Alcázar, the photographic marathon: " Lorca: The looks of the Three Cultures', scheduled for this coming Saturday, November 21.Francisco Morales stated that “this is the first time that this photography contest has been organized by the Department of Culture, in which we collaborate from the Department of Tourism, and that it is done through the Popular University in collaboration with the Federation San Clemente.

The Marathon arises with the aim of enhancing our rich historical and cultural heritage, always highlighting and valuing the important mark and influence that Christian, Muslim and Jewish cultures have been depositing in the historical spaces of Lorca ”.The Councilor for Tourism has stated that "this activity takes place coinciding with the commemorative acts of the Festivities in honor of our Patron, San Clemente, which this year have not been carried out in the traditional way due to the current health crisis and have been modified to adapt to this situation and offer the best guarantee and safety to Lorca.

Let us remember that it is the objective of both this City Council and the San Clemente Cultural Festive Federation to promote and disseminate the history, culture and artistic manifestations related to the medieval period of Lorca.

For this, official guides of Tourism of Lorca will direct the visits in the Muslim, Jewish and Christian routes organized ”.Morales has pointed out that “the objective of this photographic contest is to promote our culture and our tourism and to do so through the historical routes of Lorca, at the same time raising awareness among citizens of the importance of heritage conservation as part of the inheritance of future generations.

For this reason, we encourage everyone to participate in this event with which to value, once again, the rich cultural heritage that we have in our city ”.The president of the San Clemente Federation has detailed that “at 10 am, this coming Saturday, the concentration of all participants in the Sanctuary of the Virgen de las Huertas for the start of the Arab route is scheduled; At 12 noon the Jewish route will begin, starting at the entrance to the Castle of Lorca; and in the afternoon, at 4:00 p.m.

the Christian route will take place, leaving the Plaza de España ”.For his part, the coordinator of the Popular University has reported the conditions for participating.

Those over 18 years of age who have correctly registered in the online platform enabled for the contest and send their images by e-mail to universidadpopular@lorca.es before the end of the term, which will be on November 24, 2020 at 20:00 h.

All those interested in participating in this photographic contest must register through the website created for this purpose, previously indicating the route or routes chosen. Each participant may submit a minimum of three photographs and a maximum of five photographs, which have a narrative coherence, regarding the route they have made.

The jury will especially value the technical quality and originality of the images, as well as those that best reflect the essence of the routes carried out.

Those images whose theme revolves around a narrative discourse on Lorca and the three cultures will be especially valued in this call.

In addition, in order to enhance the creativity and craftsmanship of the photographer, those photographs that present a minimum or no retouching index will be especially valued. The image formats that will participate in the selection of the contest will be TIF and JPG exclusively.

Accompanying these files with the corresponding digital negatives in RAW format will be positively valued.

Photographs will have a minimum size for their short side of 3,508 pixels (equivalent to printed A3 format) and a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.

The image mode can be RGB, CMYK or grayscale, indistinctly.Photographs that have been digitally altered will not be accepted for more than what good judgment advises (exposure, contrast, white balance adjustments and, where appropriate, moderate use of HDR).

Photomontages will not be accepted.

The files will need to provide the title, description of the work and the route in which the photographs were taken.The jury's decision, which will be made up of photography professionals, will be announced from December 1 on the social networks of the Department of Culture of the Lorca City Council (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).

The prizes will consist of the first in a financial prize of 400 euros and the second prize in a weekend stay at the Parador de Lorca.In addition, a virtual exhibition will be held with the 20 photo compositions most valued by the jury on the social networks of the Department of Culture, as well as another in paper format in those places that may be considered appropriate.

The photographs will become part of the photographic archive owned by the Popular University.
