The pandemic has exceeded the forecasts of this organization that every day receives new requests for help.
The Fundación Iniciativas El Gigante is once again actively involved through its '¡Alimenta!' which starts today with the firm intention of "lending a shoulder to underprivileged families through Cáritas Interparroquial", according to the president of the Fundación Iniciativas El Gigante, Francisco Perán Albarracín. The non-perishable food collection program is reinvented "to guarantee safety in the midst of the pandemic.
Precautions will be taken through a series of safety and health guarantee protocols so that all products that are sent to Cáritas Interparroquial are in perfect condition ", added the president of the Fundación Iniciativas El Gigante. The campaign, framed within the program 'Improving the Region of Murcia', of the Lorca Foundation has the collaboration of the Virgen del Alcázar Hospital and Martínez Cardona Abogados-Asesores.
The products that are collected will be sent to the Food Bank 'Kilicala' of Cáritas Interparroquial de Lorca.
"We need soluble cocoa, juices, broth, lentils, chickpeas, beans, mackerel in oil, mackerel with tomato, crushed tomato, milk and baby food," explained Francisco Perán. Donations can be made until December 23 at the headquarters of the Fundación Iniciativas El Gigante, at Calle Cueto, 10, from Monday to Friday from 10 a.m.
to 1 p.m.
But there will also be a food collection service.
"We know that there are many people who want to help, but who cannot travel to our facilities, so our volunteers will go to their homes to pick up the products they want to send to Cáritas Interparroquial," said Perán. This food collection service will last for eight days between 10 am and 1 pm.

Finally, the president of the Fundación Iniciativas El Gigante made a call for participation.
"Unfortunately, hunger and coronavirus are words that go hand in hand at the moment.
The serious situation that many families go through can be solved with our help, so I ask Lorca to be more involved than ever and collaborate with what they can." And he took the opportunity to thank the work of Cáritas Interparroquial.
