boys and girls without any distinction ". The councilor of Oenegés de Lorca, María Dolores Chumillas, congratulated the Association of Diabetics of Lorca and its Region (ADILOR), which has recently been recognized in the VI edition of the Spanish Diabetes Federation (FEDE) Awards, held on last November 12, through the program of 'Accompaniment to school excursions for children with diabetes'. The mayor of Oenegés has recognized "the work that has been carried out by this group with which we have always collaborated and we will continue to do so for the benefit of people who suffer from this pathology as well as to advance in research, prevention and also in the attention to people who are increasingly younger.

" María Dolores Chumillas has detailed that "the program of 'Accompaniment to school excursions for children with diabetes', which in addition to the collaboration of the Oenegés Department, has the Health and Education Department, and which has now been awarded national, began to be held in October 2019 and has been carried out throughout the 2019/20 school year, arising from the need of both parents and teachers of children with diabetes and without diabetes for the figure of a nurse in the school environment ". Chumillas Martínez recalled that "the main objective of this initiative is to ensure the presence of a nurse in all school excursions for all boys and girls without any distinction.

Helping to improve the quality of life of all boys and girls with diabetes in the school environment Promote the autonomy of children with diabetes on excursions and in their day to day with diabetes.

" In addition to promoting and creating an environment of tranquility among the families of children with diabetes; promote coexistence with other classmates by carrying out the same recreational activities as them, promoting equality among all and thus demonstrating that diabetes is not an impediment to leading a normal life. Among the functions of this nursing professional is to offer help to children with diabetes during their excursions to promote learning about their disease and self-control of it, to encourage teachers to be interested in the functions of the sick or offer basic notions about children's diabetes (glycemic controls and knowing how to interpret them, actions to manage hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, various information on insulins, train children in the diet by portions, among others), so that then they can apply them in the day to day in the school environment). For their part, from ADILOR they reiterate that "this program obviously benefits children but also teachers, who lose the" fear "that they often feel when dealing with students with diabetes, due to ignorance of what this disease really implies" . "With this project, from ADILOR we also intend to" open our eyes "to a society that constantly sends messages of equality and diversity, both in the school environment and in many other facets of life, but which, however, does not ensures mechanisms to guarantee such equality and respect for diversity ", stand out from this group. ADILOR also wants to show that children with diabetes can and should carry out all activities like other children and that the role of the nurse in the school environment is a necessary issue.

It is very important to note that diabetes is not an impediment to carrying out any activity.
