The liberal training presents an initiative in the Regional Assembly and in the Town Halls of Lorca and Águilas where it proposes that the actions be prioritized for its declaration in a period not exceeding one yearThe parliamentary group of Citizens has registered in the Regional Assembly an initiative to promote the Cabo Cope Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest, which will also be presented in the Town Halls of Lorca and Águilas in the coming days.

The spokesman for Citizens in the Regional Assembly, Juan José Molina, has stated that “the protection of our marine ecosystems, as well as the conservation and maintenance of fishing resources, is one of the fundamental axes regarding maritime fishing policies from the national level, as well as at community and international level and it is one of the objectives of Law 2/2007 on Fisheries and Aquaculture in the Region of Murcia ”.

In this sense,Ciudadanos proposes that all actions be prioritized so that within a period not exceeding one year all the necessary procedures have been carried out to declare the Cabo Cope Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest.Molina has highlighted the extremely high environmental value of Cabo Cope, located on the limits of the Calnegre and Cabo Cope Regional Park, classified as an area of ??special natural, environmental and landscape value classified as a Protected Natural Area and declared a Special Protection Area for Birds ( ZEPA), Site of Community Interest (SCI) and included within the European Natura 2000 Network, and that “it is a marine reserve whose waters are the habitat, refuge and nursery of numerous marine species, in addition to having impressive meadows of oceanic posidonia ”.For his part, Francisco Morales, vice mayor and spokesman for Citizens in the Lorca City Council, recalled that in September the Regional Government in coalition announced the start of the procedures to declare Cabo Cope Marine Reserve of Fishing Interest, statement that "it would have a very beneficial impact not only on an environmental and marine level, but also on an economic and wealth-generating level." Morales has highlighted that “it is the responsibility of the public powers to make the development of economic activities compatible with the preservation of this unique enclave.

That is why we must bet on sustainable agriculture that complies with the Code of Good Agricultural Practices ”.In this sense, the councilor of Cs in the City of Águilas, Donosa Bustamante, has emphasized that “we would be talking about a sustainable and lasting economic activity, based on activities such as diving, with a very positive impact on the hotel industry and, in general , the enjoyment of a unique marine landscape in the Region of Murcia ”, so that in the next municipal plenary session it will defend that it be carried out allowing traditional fishing, tourist and sports activities, authorizing ecological and summer anchorages. The liberal formation, based on compliance with the judgment of the Murcia Superior Court of Justice where the environmental protection of Calnegre-Cabo Cope was determined by annulling all the urbanization procedures in this natural setting, is going to request that the Consortium be dissolved Marina de Cope, given that "it does not make sense that to date it continues to appear in the Inventory of the public sector of the Autonomous Community," Juan José Molina has announced.
