The Unit for Local Protection and Attention to Women (UPLAM) has a service 365 days a year to protect the care and protection of victims of gender violence, and of those women who need any type of information or advice related to the abuse. The Councilor for Citizen Security and Local Police of the City Council of Lorca, José Luis Ruiz Guillén, the Councilor for Equality, Antonia Pérez, and the Chief Commissioner of the Local Police of Lorca, José Antonio Sansegundo, have presented, this morning, the Unit of Local Protection and Attention to Specialized Women (UPLAM). The Councilor for Citizen Security has indicated that "on the occasion of November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, from the Local Police of Lorca and from its specialized unit UPLAM we want to commemorate this day so as not to give up and to continue working in the fight against violence against women, in all its manifestations ". José Luis Ruiz Guillén has reiterated that "it is a priority and incessant commitment of the Department of Equality and Citizen Security of the City of Lorca to stand firm against all those acts that threaten the freedom, integrity and safety of women". Ruiz Guillén recalled that "on February 3, the Lorca City Council signed the adhesion to the 'Protocol of Collaboration and Coordination between State Security Forces and Bodies and the Local Police Bodies for the protection of victims of gender violence ', known as Viogén, with the aim of establishing the basic criteria of collaboration and coordination that allow optimizing the human and material resources available to the Security Forces and Bodies in our municipal area, to guarantee effective compliance with judicial measures protection for victims of gender violence ". The mayor of Citizen Security has explained that "as a sample of this agreement, from this Department in coordination with the Local Police Headquarters of Lorca has created the UPLAM, a unit made up of a sub-inspector and three agents who are already integrated into the Viogén System.

According to the signed agreement, the allocation of victims to the Local Police of Lorca for their protection and monitoring follows the following distribution: of the victims assigned by the National Police Corps, the Local Police assumes fifty percent of the initial level cases of risk: Unappreciated, Low and Medium.
Of the victims assigned by the Civil Guard, the Local Police assume all the cases with an initial level of risk: Not Appreciated and Low. The UPLAM works in coordination with the National Police Corps of the Lorca Police Station, and with the Civil Guard Posts of Lorca, Zarcilla de Ramos, Puerto Lumbreras and Mazarrón, to cover said Demarcation Posts within our municipal term and the victims residents in our municipality.
It is also necessary to coordinate with the different courts of the Lorca judicial district, especially with the Court of First Instance and Instruction No.
4 (Specialized Court in crimes of violence against women), as well as with the Public Prosecutor's Office and many other institutions, highlighting and putting in value the excellent work that the team of CAVI workers has been doing, dependent on the Department of Equality of the Lorca City Council. The objective is to provide a comprehensive protection and information service. Among its functions is the immediate intervention for an episode of gender violence, violation of sentence, third party alarms, 112, Room 092, alarms made by a victim who uses telecare, etc; Proceed to arrest the aggressor; Attend to the victim in the first instance.
Expedite medical attention, accompaniment to the Health Center or Hospital; transfer to one's own home or to that of a relative, transfer to the Civil Guard Police Station or Barracks, transfer to a foster home; Appearance or preparation of the first proceedings, which will contain the appearance of exposition of facts, delivery of instruments or effects used in the crime and corresponding optional parts, according to competences and demarcation of the facts; Protection and monitoring of the victims assigned through the VIOGEN System,as agreed in the collaboration agreement. For her part, the Councilor for Equality has indicated that "the Lorca Local Police also informs victims of the different complementary resources that exist, to try to provide a comprehensive information and assistance service to victims of gender violence, supported in the different Administrations, especially in the Local one through the Department of Equality and its CAVI (Center of Specialized Attention for Women Victims of Gender Violence) ". Antonia Pérez stressed that "among these resources we find social services, psychological care, the shelter for victims; Telephone Service for Attention and Protection for Victims of Gender Violence (ATENPRO); Health Resources: Primary and Emergency Care , Specialized Care, Mental Health, Assistance and advice legal; PEF Family Meeting Points.
(Located in premises of the Local Police of Lorca); Socio-Labor Insertion Program for Women Victims of Violence from CARM, Local Employment Centers for women; Financial aid; Itinerant service CAVAX (Comprehensive Prevention and Attention Service for victims of sexual abuse and / or assault); Action guide against gender violence in education and Action guide for women with disabilities, victims of gender violence. In addition, as highlighted by the mayor of Equality, other resources available from other institutions and NGOs such as the Red Cross, Cáritas or CEPAIM where different projects, workshops, educational and informative talks are organized. Pérez Segura has insisted that "from the Lorca City Council, through these two Council Offices and the Local Police, we want to show our most resounding rejection of all types of violence against women and we invite all of society and all institutions to become involved in their fight, as established by the State Pact Against Gender Violence, inviting that from the prevention, education, awareness and networking of all the agents involved, we go together efforts to make this sexist violence disappear how much damage it causes.
" The Chief Commissioner of Local Police has explained that "from the Local Police of Lorca we extend our hand to any woman who is experiencing some type of gender violence, be it physical, psychological, sexual, or economic, to attend and help her with the different resources and tools available ".
