This work, the result of a collaboration agreement between the two institutions and which has been carried out by researchers from the UPCT Urban Research Laboratory, will now be the object of study by the municipal technical services and will be made available to all groups municipalities so that they know their conclusions, as well as the proposed strategies.The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, presented, this morning, together with the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Beatriz Miguel Hernández, and the researcher in charge of the work, Marcos Ros, the analysis and diagnosis study on the General Plan for Urban Planning of Lorca (PGMO) carried out by this institution.The Mayor of Lorca recalled that "this is a work started by the previous Government team in the City of Lorca, which in March 2018 signed a collaboration agreement with the Polytechnic University of Cartagena to carry out a set of activities of R + D + i for research, data collection, advice and documentation of the work necessary to carry out an 'Analysis and Diagnosis of the PGMO of Lorca and Proposal of urban and territorial development model', which would allow to establish the action strategies for the future preparation of the Review of the General Plan of Lorca ".Diego José explained that "today we proceed to the delivery of the finished work, which will now be the object of study and analysis by the municipal technical services and will culminate with its presentation to the Urban Planning Information Commission and will be made available to all groups municipalities so that they know their conclusions and the proposed strategies on the Model of Urban and Territorial Development and general determinations for the future elaboration of the Update-adaptation of the General Plan of Lorca.
Likewise, the document will be disseminated for its general knowledge, as it is intended to be a participatory process and it will be sent to the CARM General Directorate of Urbanism ".According to the document that they have already delivered to the Lorca city council, of the urban transformation forecasts made in 2004 to the present, there would be 42.7 million square meters of building space.
