The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, presented, this morning, together with the councilors for Development and Transport of the Lorca City Council, Isabel Casalduero and Irene Jódar, the project to remodel Jerónimo Santa Fe street ". The mayor of Lorca explained that "this is a project that we had to unblock from this government team, after being paralyzed for more than two years, and whose works, which are scheduled to begin next March, have a budget of 2,445,000 euros from the European Investment Bank (EIB) and an execution period of 10 months ". Diego José Mateos has detailed that "among these works we will proceed to the comprehensive renovation of services such as supply, sanitation, rainwater, telecommunications networks, as well as low voltage and lighting, where the existing lights will also be replaced by other LED type with high energy efficiency; the resurfacing of streets, sidewalks with the installation of paving stones, and the road will be carried out ". The Mayor has added that "in addition to Jerónimo Santa Fe street, a sense of traffic circulation will be eliminated, as well as some thirty parking spaces, but all loading and unloading areas are respected, as well as fords and bus stops and, in turn, to be able to widen sidewalks and make them more accessible and create a bike lane, which has the approval of the Lorca Biciudad Association ". Mateos Molina recalled that "for a few months all the residents of this area of ??the city have had more than a thousand squares in Camino Marín and Periodista Ángela Ruiz streets and in the annexed lot, located just 100 meters from Jerónimo Santa Fe ". The mayor has specified that "among the works is planned the construction of a roundabout of 23 meters in diameter, at the intersection of Jerónimo Santa Fe with José Mouliaá, General Pérez Chuecos and Martín Morata streets, with the main objective of improving regulation All these works will be completed with the planting of 110 trees and the installation of 16 benches, 28 chairs and 25 wastebaskets.

The scope of these works will be, in addition to Jerónimo Santa Fe, Rambla Baja, General Pérez Chuecos, Higuera, Carril de Cañete, Travesía Zenete, Fray Diego de Cádiz, Robles Vives and Canal de Riego streets ". Diego José Mateos has insisted that "in order to carry out this project we have wanted to know first-hand the real needs of the residents who reside in this area.

To do so, we have met with all the property administrations of the communities and buildings of the area, in addition to the Federation of Neighborhood Associations and the presidents of affected neighborhood associations to whom we have made known all the details, so that they could send us their suggestions, the same has been done with associations such as Lorca Biciudad and Asdifilor ".
