The Councilor for Oeneg s of the City of Lorca, Mar a Dolores Chumillas, has reported the investment of 150,000 euros in aid to various associations and NGOs of the municipality.
Chumillas explained that "from the Government team of the City of Lorca we are going to invest 150,000 euros in aid to associations and NGOs of our municipality that are having difficulties when carrying out their functions, of special importance, since carry out their social work with people with functional diversity or at risk of social exclusion ".
The mayor has detailed that "the security restrictions established by the health authorities established due to the pandemic caused by Covid, have prevented most of the associations from carrying out their usual activities and, with that, suffering a notable lack of economic income with which to finance the necessary resources to carry out their work.
" Chumillas Martínez has indicated that "that is why the Lorca City Council has launched an extraordinary aid with which we intend to alleviate the reduction in income that has occurred this year due to the impossibility of developing activities.
Specifically, we are going to inject 64,000 euros, in an equitable way, to those groups that have requested help from the Council such as the Alzheimer Association, Down Lorca, Aema III, Apat, Asdifilor, the Parkinson Association and El Buen Camino " .
"In addition, we are going to inject another 60,000 euros into the C ritas Interparroquial 'Kilicala' free food distribution project, prioritizing the purchase of children's products and hygiene and personal hygiene products, as the demands on the food bank have increased considerably since the social vulnerability of families has increased as a result of Covid-19 ".
The councilor for oeneg s has shown that "the remaining economic amount, 26,000 euros, will be destined to adapt the premises and spaces of the associations to the current health situation so that they can continue to offer their users and users all their services, high quality and essential services that they perform in our municipality ".
"This investment responds to the commitment of this Government team with the associations and social health entities of our municipality and thanks to the budget modification that we made, after its approval in the Municipal Ordinary Plenary of last November, we have been able to inject essential help for many of our groups ".
Mar a Dolores Chumillas has thanked "even more for the work that all the associations always do because this year is being especially difficult for everyone, but for the groups that work with people of special sensitivity it has made their work and, therefore, also thank the work of the staff of the councils of Social Services and Health as well as Emergencies, Local Police and the social workers of area 3 ".
