The Councilor for Culture of the City of Lorca, Mar a ngeles Mazuecos, has reported the beginning of the BIC denomination procedures for the building of the Old Prison.

Mazuecos has explained "from the Lorca City Council we continue working to carry out a project as important as converting the building that housed the old prison into the new Sociocultural Center 'Eliodoro Puche', one more initiative to gradually achieve the recovery And the revitalization of the historic center of our municipality ".

The mayor has detailed that "the project presented by the City Council has obtained a very favorable assessment but as the property itself does not have the name of Asset of Cultural Interest, although the entire environment in which is located, the proposal has been submitted to the new call for subsidies financed at 1.5 percent cultural granted by the central government ".

Mazuecos Moreno has indicated that "the La C rcel recovery project meets all the technical, cultural and educational requirements, so that from the Lorca City Council we have already started the procedures, urgently , so that the General Directorate of Cultural Assets, dependent on the Ministry of Culture of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, grant the qualification of BIC to the property ".

The Councilor for Culture has announced that "during the first quarter of 2021 a new ordinary call for projects will be started to qualify for the subsidy charged to 1.5 percent cultural and, of course, we will return to present the project with La C rcel with the name of BIC ".
