[The Lorca City Council collaborates in the initiative 'Olla Gitana Solidaria' launched by Hostelor for the benefit of the neediest families (16/12/2020)

It is a performance in which chefs from our city come together around the stoves to delight us with this rich stew with rich products from the garden with which funds will be raised for the Lorca Red Cross.

The Councilor for Social Services of the City of Lorca, Mar a Dolores Chumillas, presented, this morning, together with the president of the Professional Association of Hoteliers of Lorca Hostelor, Jes s Abellaneda, the initiative 'Olla Gitana Solidaria'.

The Councilor for Social Services explained that "the City Council of Lorca collaborates with this initiative launched by Hostelor, and does so through the Councils of Oeneg s, Economy and Commerce, and also has with the support of Ceclor and the Chamber of Commerce of Lorca ".

Mar a Dolores Chumillas has detailed that "the initiative 'Olla Gitana Solidaria' will take place next Monday, December 21, when different chefs from our city will meet in the kitchens of Hacienda Real Los Olivos, such as Roberto Rodriguez from 'Casa Roberto', Santiago from 'Mirr n', Pedro Lucas from 'Restaurante La Peña, Jos Antonio from' Pizzer a D Antojo ', Antonio Alegr a from' Taper a 4 Acorns', Miguel from 'Mes n Lorquino', who will make between 500 and 600 servings of gypsy pot "and recalled that" it is the Fitur 2019 recipe.

" Chumillas has detailed that "a part of this preparation will be distributed by the Red Cross among the most vulnerable families of Lorca and the rest will be sold from 1:00 p.m., for an amount of 3 euros per ration in the position that will be placed in Avda.

The president of Hostelor, Jes s Abellaneda, has explained that this initiative is sponsored by several companies such as Verdura Perich n, Zamb , Districam Licores and Hacienda Real Los Olivos.

Abellaneda recalled that "in the past it was said about this stew from Olla Gitana that people with hardly any resources, many of them from the gypsy ethnic group, wandered around the Murcian garden requesting some help to support their families, to which the owners of the land They responded by giving away some of the vegetables that were grown in them.With all that they gathered they prepared a stew that, officially, was called a gypsy pot.

It is a simple stew, rich and abundant in ingredients, its main source of protein is two humble legumes -chickpeas and kidney beans or white beans- that are enriched with vegetables and greens, such as onion, tomatoes, beans greens, carrots, potatoes and two other components that finish to round it up: totanera squash and water pears.

With all that, plus some ingredients, this tasty, succulent and, at the same time, healthy garden dish is made.

Finally, the organizers have encouraged Lorca and Lorca to collaborate in this initiative with which to enjoy a delicious dish of the gastronomy of our land and on the other to help those who are having the worst time and more.
