[Today the exhibition "Benjam n de Tudela. A traveler in time" has opened to the public, which will be open until January 10 at the Aljibe del Espald n del Castillo de Lorca (21/12/2020)

Access is free and it will be open during the normal opening hours of Castillo de Lorca this season | The deputy mayor of Lorca and councilor for Tourism, Francisco Morales, visited the exhibition 'Benjam n de Tudela' this morning, which opened its doors today, until January 10, in the Aljibe del Espald n del Castillo of Lorca.

Francisco Morales has invited all the people of Lorca to go up to the Castle to be able to contemplate the exhibition 'Benjam n de Tudela.

A traveler in time 'by the author Jes s lava Sesma.

It is a collection of photographs of the current state (2006) of the Jewish quarters and of the countries that Benjamin de Tudela visited between 1163-1174.

The exhibition gathers the journey made by the traveler from the personal vision of the photographer from Tudela, Jes s lava, with the aim of contrasting the notes given by Benjamin in the 12th century with today.

In total, there are 52 panels with a caption taken from Benjamin's original book and the exhibition has been set up in the chronological order of the trip.

Visiting hours will be the opening hours of the Castillo de Lorca facilities during this season, from Sunday to Friday between 11 a.m.

and 4 p.m.

and Saturdays from 11 a.m.

to 6:30 p.m.

The Councilor for Tourism has "encouraged Lorca, visitors and tourists to come and enjoy this exhibition organized in our star monument such as the Castle of Lorca.

It is a perfect activity to complement the offer of these Christmas days, and that we can enjoy thanks to the fact that we are members of the exclusive Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain, which gives us the exhibition.

" Benjam n de Tudela was the most important medieval Jewish traveler and we only have his 'Travel Book', which could be set between 1159 and 1167 and his return in 1172 1173.

In total he visited 190 cities of Europe and the East, becoming one of the first sources of Jewish demography.

His focussed interest in Jews and their situation, describing personalities, study centers, population, ways of life, difficulties and successes.

He also talks about the great political and historical events of his time.
