[The Department of Economy places Christmas decoration flags to adorn the main shopping streets of the Historic Center (23/12/2020)

The initiative seeks to promote consumption in the hotel and shopping in Lorca shops.

The ornamental flags display Christmas motifs and in their design they make a nod to Lorca embroidery, which is currently in the process of being declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO The Deputy Mayor of Lorca and Councilor for the Economy, Francisco Morales, presented this morning the new Christmas ornamentation flags that from today adorn the main shopping streets of the historic center.

The flags sport Christmas motifs and in their design they make a nod to Lorca embroidery, which is currently in the process of being declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

One of them represents the Christmas tree, another represents the Magi and another a gift as a gesture of support for trade.

Francisco Morales has reported that "in November 2019, 23 supports of 3 masts with lantern adorned with three flags were placed, at that time alluding to the San Clemente patron saint festivities, and this year it has been repeated.

Our intention is that, during the main festivals of the municipality, in coordination with the councils of Culture and Celebrations, our historic center be embellished with decorative flags alluding to the current festival.

In this case, we wanted to create an atmosphere Christmas season more beautiful and endearing with these flags in Christmas colors as red, green and gold.

" The three flags have been made by teachers and students of the fashion training cycles of the IES Bartolom P rez Casas and have been designed by David Torres del Alc zar.

In its traces, an allusion is made to Lorca embroidery, whose candidacy to be declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO is currently in progress.

The first green flag contains a Christmas tree with motifs of vegetal acanthus similar to the traces of the gold embroidery; the second, golden, represents the figures of the three Wise Men who, on arrival at the Nativity, deliver their offerings framed in gothic terraces, typical of Lorca embroidery; and the third, red, contains within a border in the form of a gold embroidery that frames a gift, such as those that these days we can order in the shops of our municipality.

The mayor of the Economy, Francisco Morales thanked "the enthusiasm and collaboration of both the designer and the students of the clothing module with this council for the decoration of the city center with these 23 supports of 3 masts with lanterns, which in addition to beautifying our historic center, is also expected to help boost commercial and hospitality activity on these important dates, but always with prevention measures and hygienic-sanitary security that correspond to this Christmas ".

Morales recalled that this initiative joins all the activities and celebrations scheduled by the Lorca City Council on the occasion of Christmas, at the same time that he has encouraged all Lorca residents and visitors to "participate and enjoy these endearing dates in which Lorca she gets especially pretty and organizes a multitude of activities for young and old to enjoy in Lorca this Christmas ".

Finally, the Councilor for the Economy has also reported on the expansion of the megaphone with piped music to new stretches of streets such as Corredera, as well as the possibility that businesses themselves can connect to a radio online of which we have the domain and fixed IP so that the interior of its establishments share the same songs and carols.

This online radio service will be available throughout the year.

"During this Christmas, one of the carols that will not be missing is the one that we presented last week within the campaign 'This Christmas Enjoy in Lorca!', Interpreted by the IES choir Ros Giner, who has liked Lorca so much and that it is being widely shared between mobile devices and on social networks.

" This new initiative joins those already developed by the Department of Economy to beautify our streets such as the distribution of carpets, Easter flowers and decorative stickers that redirect to a Christmas website where to contact the Three Kings and where view the video of the Christmas carol 'This Christmas Enjoy in Lorca!'.
