Thanks to the efforts carried out by the president of the Lorca PP, Fulgencio Gil, and the regional president, Fernando L pez Miras, this morning it was possible for the regional government council to give the final approval to the project. The Councilor for Works in the town hall of Lorca for the Popular Party, Angel Meca, has reported that thanks to the decisive impulse carried out by the president of the PP Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, today we can announce that the regional government has approved an investment.

n of 2.1 million euros for the comprehensive improvement of the road that connects the urban area of ??our city with the district of Morata, popularly known as Mesillo road. This morning we received confirmation that the Governing Council has authorized this investment, for which Fulgencio Gil has been working hard.

The action will consist of repair works and widening of the RM-D8 regional road that connects the center of Lorca with the districts around Aguaderas, communicating through the Sierra de Almenara with Campo L fish and Morata. Angel Meca has highlighted the high strategic value that constitutes the project to improve the El Mesillo road, the main natural way of communication between Lorca and its coastal districts.

For many years we have been working to make this project a reality, and in fact we have already prepared everything to be able to launch the processing of the works in May 2019.

It is an intervention that can achieve a change in the perception of the Lorca before a very prominent part of our municipal area.

The objective of the PP with this work is that Lorca and its coastal districts stop living almost on their backs because we do not have a comfortable, safe and fast connection.We must remember that in the plenary session of last January we already requested that the procedures be streamlined from the city council to take advantage of the economic contribution that we had agreed with the regional government. The improvement of this road will make Lorca a better structured municipality, solving the current problems associated with a narrow road, full of curves, changes in elevation and inappropriate for the 21st century.

We are facing a historic opportunity.

The execution of this investment is transcendental to ensure that the people of Lorca have a road in good safety conditions to travel to enjoy the extraordinary landscapes of both the Sierra de Almenara itself and our virgin coast. From the PP we have managed to significantly improve the network of roads and highways in this area of ??the municipality in recent years, with key actions such as the construction of a bridge over the Rambla de Biznaga, an infrastructure that has involved an investment It exceeds 1.2 million euros and ends the road cuts that had been taking place when there were heavy rains that caused the rise of the Biznaga Rambla. We Lorca cannot live with our backs to the coast or condemn the residents of the area to permanent isolation, so one of our priority objectives is the repair of the road that connects the city with the districts of Campo L fish, Morata and Ramonete. It is an action framed in the program to repair the damage caused by the Lorca earthquakes in the regional road network, in which a total of 62.5 million euros will be invested for the recovery.

This year the regional Executive has made a significant effort to complete the works, with actions such as the completion of section 2 of the Ronda Sur Central de Lorca, inaugurated last October, and which has involved the investment of 3 , 8 million euros. The conclusion of the so-called Caravaca highway (RM-711) is also nearing, in which a total of 1.3 million euros will be invested, and the improvement of the highway has begun.
