[La Hoya has a handmade nativity scene built, in the open air, between lettuce and broccoli plantations (31/12/2020)

In the middle of the Lorca orchard, surrounded by plantations of lettuce, broccoli and trees of different species, it is installed outdoors, under the blue sky that we still enjoy in December and the stars that fill the sky at night , one of the most original nativity scenes that have been made in this atypical year of the pandemic, when everything seemed that the situation was going to subtract joy and feeling from Christmas, the most endearing holiday of the year.

It is a manners nativity scene made piece by piece by a family from the district of La Hoya, placed in the garden of the house where they live.

It has approximately 100 square meters of surface with around 300 figures where the visitor can find everything, from the nativity scene itself, which constitutes the center of this authentic work of art, with Jes s Jos and Mar a, handcrafted, up to a living reproduction of the houses that were built at the time of the Birth of the Messiah.

To all this must be added, of course, the three Wise Men from the East: Melchor, Gaspar and Baltasar or the typical river with a permanent water circuit.

Geese, chickens, hens and oxen are not lacking either.

The entire environment is protected by an artisanal hurdle that gives the nativity scene attractiveness.

The thinking head of such a singular and original work of art is called Dolores Mar n Moya, helped by her husband, Roque Moya Mula and by a group of friends who, according to her, “are the best in the world”.

"Lola", as she is popularly known in the town, affirms that with the elaboration of this unique nativity scene, she fulfills one of her life's dreams.

She had promised herself that when she retired she would carry out her project so that her grandchildren could enjoy it with her.

As a result of the pandemic caused by the coronavirus, "Lola" has more free time than expected, which has motivated her to anticipate her dream.

He assures that he began the tasks last September and the illusion that overwhelmed him was so great that some days,He got up at 5 in the morning to build some of the pieces that are on display there.

This is the first time he has exhibited it.

As there are no problems of space and the environment requires it, apart from the own figures that are in any nativity scene, "Lola" has also introduced, among others, a recreation of the castle of Lorca and its Alfonsina tower , a demonstration of the typical home slaughter, now defunct, that was carried out in La Hoya around Christmas time, the school and the old town hermitage, the ventorrillo or one of the farmhouses where The families of other times were usually grouped together.

This unique nativity scene surrounded by nature is located on the Camino de El Cuervo, located between the Camino de Caracoleros and the Murcia-Lorca-Aguilas line, near the place of La Tejera.

.

According to the owner of the work, although it is a private property, she will have no problem showing it to any resident of the town who is interested in it as well as to any visitor who shows interest.

Once the Christmas period is over, after kings, I will keep the most sensitive pieces and leave the rest in the same place, until next year, when I will install it again.

“Lola” is a real “handyman” and in another part of the farm she has made a living reproduction of the Lorca district of Doña In s, with the “El Jeromo” bar on the front line.

He has done the same with Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, Pinocchio or the Tablets of the Law with the 10 Commandments in artificial stone. function { ;(, , {});}
