[The PSOE will take a motion to the Municipal Plenary to demand that the Regional Government close the gaming halls and betting houses for health reasons (18/01/2021)

Jos ngel Ponce: "from the Municipal Socialist Group we consider incoherent and discriminatory that, while the Regional Government of the Autonomous Community decrees the closure of the interior of bars and restaurants due to the serious increase in cases of COVID-19 in the Region of Murcia, which does not apply, at least, the same restrictions for the interior of gaming and betting rooms " The socialist councilor, Jos ngel Ponce, has reported that from the Socialist Party of Lorca we are going to raise to the next Ordinary Plenary, which will take place next Monday, January 25, a motion in which we will ask for the support of all municipal groups to urge the Ministry of Health of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia to modify the sanitary criteria that allow the opening of the interior of the gaming halls and the betting houses of the Region ".

"From the Municipal Socialist Group we consider incoherent and discriminatory that, while the Regional Government of the Autonomous Community decrees the closure of the interior of bars and restaurants due to the serious increase in cases of COVID-19 in the Region of Murcia, that does not apply, as a minimum, the same restrictions for the interior of gambling and betting rooms ".

Ponce has indicated that "the Regional Government must decree the closure of the interior of gambling halls and betting houses in municipalities with a 'very high' and 'extreme' alert level, through the modification of the Order of November 27, 2020 of the Ministry of Health establishing the general and sectoral measures applicable to the different sectors of activity and municipalities in attention to the existing alert level at all times ".

The mayor has stressed that "it is not very understandable that, in the interiors of these establishments, which generally lack ventilation and there is continuous handling of machinery and interaction between their users, occupation is allowed at this time.

¿½n of 30 percent of the capacity and, therefore, its opening, unlike what it does not allow inside bars and restaurants ".

Ponce Daz has shown that "in addition to the social consequences, as well as for public health and citizen security that, in a generalized way, it supposes for the population, especially for the j Young people and their families this type of facilities and the permissiveness around this sector, we consider that keeping open, at this time, this type of facility represents a greater risk for the spread of the virus and an inconvenience for the regional strategy.

and municipal containment of COVID-19 infections both in the municipality and in the whole of the Region of Murcia ".

The councilor recalled that "the mayor of Lorca, Diego Jos Mateos, has shown on several occasions his displeasure at the differences in the criteria for opening gambling and betting rooms compared to those of the hotel and catering industry, a petition He has already formally made the president of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia through a letter ".

Jos ngel Ponce has indicated that "we hope that all the municipal groups that make up the Corporation will unanimously support this request, which we understand to be common sense if the hostelry is closing.

¿½a, as is closing the premises and gambling halls, opaque spaces with little ventilation and with interaction between people who, as is being demonstrated with various police actions, are systematically failing to comply Ethics, the restrictions put in place, such as the consumption of beverages inside or the correct use of the mask ".
