[Lorca already enjoys the exhibition 'Monumental Sculptures in the street' by the Asturian artist Juan M�jica (19/01/2021)

The sample, which can now be seen in the open air, on Avenida Alcalde Jos� Antonio Gallego, is made up of seven three-dimensional pieces almost 4 meters high and 5 tons in weight, made with an alloy of steel and copper, and that have a marked symbolic character with figures such as the Asturcan or the yew.

The Councilor for Culture of the City Council of Lorca, Mar�a �ngeles Mazuecos, has reported that we can already enjoy in our municipality the exhibition 'Monumental Sculptures on the street' by Asturian artist Juan M�jica, sample of the result of the collaboration between the M�jica Foundation and the Lorca City Council.

The mayor of Culture explained that "you can enjoy this exhibition 'outdoors' until April 4 at Avenida Alcalde Jos� Antonio Gallego L�pez where the most representative three-dimensional pieces of the' Galaxy M�jica '".

Mar�a �ngeles Mazuecos has detailed "they are sculptures of almost 4 meters high and 5 tons of weight, made with an alloy of steel and copper, and that have a marked symbolic character and that, among Others represent figures such as the bull, the Asturian, the yew, or the anthropomorphic.

In all cases, works stripped of any accessory element and turned into icons of great expressive power due to their symbolic character and extruded shapes ".

Mazuecos Moreno recalled that "this itinerant exhibition, which has recently been exhibited in the municipality of Molina de Segura, started its trip in early 2010 in Oviedo.

Since then, 46 Spanish cities have already seen these ' Monumental sculptures.

'Such has been the case of Seville, Valladolid, M�laga, Granada, Gij�n, M�rida, Ja�n, Puertollano, San Fernando, �beda, Tarragona, Toledo, Ciudad Real or Badajoz, to which Lorca joins, for a few days " Finally, the mayor of Culture has reiterated that "despite the sanitary circumstances and thanks to the characteristics of this exhibition that can be seen in the open air, we wanted to have this work in Lorca that brings together tradition and avant-garde, figuration and abstraction, through a language as expressive and personal as that of M�jica ".
