Environmental awareness day on the occasion of "World Environmental Education Day".

This year the Vocalía de la Naturaleza La Carrasca, NaturActúa and the Platform for the Quality of the Landscape of Lorca celebrate it by organizing the I Popular Cleaning Day of Lorca and the Guadalentín Valley, to make the day coincide with the weekend and for reasons restrooms we moved the activity to Sunday February 7. NaturActúa will clean the Lorca service road / Parque Almenara Shopping Center, La Carrasca and La Plataforma for Landscape Quality, we will be in the vicinity of the Aldi supermarket, La Viña, and everyone who cannot approach those two places And you want to become aware on this special day, you can do it in your closest environment where you want. From this medium we appeal to the entire society so that that day individually or as a family (maintaining the strictest health standards) we go to the area closest to our usual home and collect 1 or several garbage bags, making a selective separation that later we will deposit in the pertinent container. Likewise, we encourage people who go hiking, cycling, or simply for a walk to take their bags and collaborate with the activity. Never before have we had in our cities so much information and so many resources (containers for multiple recycling of the waste that we separate and distributed in countless points of the city) as now and yet the generation of waste and the pollution of our environment goes on every day on the rise.
"It is time to become aware." Unfortunately Lorca is a municipality with little environmental culture in sight, there are a large number of areas that are authentic garbage dumps or landfills, to name a few: The entrances to the city, the Guadalentín riverbed, the Quinta Zone or the Equestrian Club In the neighborhood of San José, Alfonso X, the entrance by the Caravaca road or San Antonio, the Granada road, the Águilas road, the parks themselves or other leisure areas, are some examples.
The worst of all is that we have normalized in our city living with garbage dumps in very close surroundings and this is what, without realizing it, we transmit to our little ones.
As has been commented, it is a cultural and educational problem, both of which are suffered by most of the citizens living together in our municipality. Another problem of great magnitude is the millions of pieces of plastics used and managed without control in agriculture.
In many cases they are already embedded in the earth and are just another sediment and in others they go from one place to another forming part of the Landscape. This activity has 2 main objectives: The first, involving the whole of society and taking action, we want and have to live in environments without garbage and we are not going to allow this to continue like this. The second, we are going to propose to the Lorca City Council that it implement a municipal ordinance that penalizes, with social work, those people who carry out inappropriate practices that threaten our environment such as: throwing rubble, garbage or other waste outside the established places for it.
It is clear that with the fines there is not enough, a few months working on weekends doing cleaning and maintenance would go well.
We are also going to request that although plastics are used in agriculture, they be removed and recycled before preparing the land and planting again. Finally, this activity will be carried out according to the current circumstances caused by COVID19, without endangering anyone, that is why we ask that the volunteers who participate do so alone or in very small groups and complying with the strictest regulations safety and health, of course wearing a mask and respecting the safety distance. function { ;(, , {});}
