[Lorca loses the entire legislature without increasing the number of Local Police agents and the PSOE withdraws the permanent presence in districts (03/03/2021)

The mayor of the Socialists withdraws the agents assigned to districts to create a Riot Police, with agents who are required to practice "combat shooting", when in Lorca only once in more than 50 years has their presence been necessary.

The current mayor is going to lose this entire legislature just to replace the same number of Local Police officers that already existed, despite the fact that he has 6.5 million euros of savings in municipal accounts, 12 million in the Municipal Treasury and He has his hands free to spend the money practically on whatever he wants, as he has done, for example, to spend 800,000 euros on buying cars, 500,000 to rescue Limusa after taking it to losses, 400,000 for cameras in the water network, and so on.

to a total of 5 million euros in less than a year.

To make matters worse, now it turns out that they are asking the European Union for 21 million euros to buy light bulbs and another 1.8 million to continue buying more cars even for the city council, which at this rate they are going to convert it into a mega dealership.

The Councilor for Citizen Security in the town hall of Lorca for the Popular Party, María Belén Pérez, has stated that Mr.

Mateos had to have already filled the vacancies that are generated in the Local Police, not to wait four years until the pre-campaign arrives electoral.

The management of citizen security cannot depend on the electoral calculations of the PSOE.

It is a missed opportunity that instead of creating new jobs, they resign themselves only to covering retirements.

The current mayor's order to withdraw the Local Police from the districts is the worst security mistake that has been made in Lorca in decades, an absurdity that has left the residents of our districts unprotected.

Citizens should never have been abandoned in such an irresponsible way.

In recent days there have been robberies in several districts, including La Campana, Aguaderas and Purias, despite the established curfew, and the current mayor cannot remain blind to this reality.

Lorca does not need a riot police, what he needs is that the districts once again have the presence of Local Police agents.

The people of Lorca demand that the permanent presence of the Local Police be recovered in the districts, for that they want the agents to be assigned, not to create an anti-riot and mass control unit, where has Mr.

Mateos seen those agglomerations of people and the urgent need for riot police in Lorca, trained with combat shooting practice? And we cannot forget that the Local Police lacks competence in crowd control and anti-riot actions, a task reserved exclusively for the State security forces and bodies.

The terrible management that the current mayor is carrying out in terms of citizen security is going to cause four years to be lost just to keep the same number of police officers as there were already.

They only contemplate replenishing retirement losses, and not before the pre-campaign of the next municipal elections arrives.

They also do not contemplate returning the local police to the districts, but for what they have not lacked time has been to spend 800,000 euros in buying cars, 500,000 in rescuing Limusa after ruining it, 400,000 in putting cameras in the water network, striking 5 million of euros in less than a year, and now they are asking the European Union for money to buy light bulbs for 21 million euros, and another 1.8 million euros to continue buying more cars.

Nor is it understandable that Mr.

Mateos did not have sufficient foresight to draw up a crash plan for traffic management, to avoid the traffic jams that are already being caused by the works in San Antonio and Jerónimo Santa Fé.

We already warned for some time that Mr.

Mateos had "fallen asleep" in the management of the works, causing these important actions that are carried out thanks to the money that the regional government of the Popular Party puts in, have coincided in time.

Thus, the traffic jams have not been long in coming, and already yesterday afternoon the collapse in the main streets of the urban area was unbearable.
