[Diego José Mateos spends € 153,000 to rent two cars for the Local Police that do not fit on the streets of both the urban area and neighborhoods and districts (14/07/2021)

María Belén Pérez: "It was the agents themselves who informed the government of Mr.

Mateos that these cars rented for 5 years, double cabins and 4x4s, are not suitable for patrolling due to their excessive dimensions" The Councilor for Citizen Security in the City Council of Lorca for the Popular Party, María Belén Pérez, has informed today of the complaints transferred by agents of the Local Police, which have already been brought to the attention of the current mayor of the city, the socialist Diego José Mateos, in which they denounce that the new vehicles that have been recently purchased for the development of police functions, equipped with double cabins and four-wheel drive, do not fit in numerous streets both in the urban area of ??the city and of their neighborhoods and districts.

These are specifically two 4x4 double cab vehicles that have cost the municipal coffers a whopping € 152,460, rented for the next five years.

This means that after that time the City Council does not keep them, but loses them.

From the Popular Party we want to clarify why precisely this type of vehicle was rented. It is absolutely absurd that such a large amount of money has been spent on cars that do not serve the functions they should, since they patrol the city and its Diputaciones requires vehicles that at least fit on their streets, it is that simple.

We must point out that the rental of these vehicles has been approved by the PSOE within a battery of purchases that rises to 800,000 euros, that is, much more money than that which has been reserved to help Lorca families and entrepreneurs to overcome the economic, social and employment crisis generated by the coronavirus pandemic.

We believe that there is another way of doing things, consistently, without fanfare and always applying common sense.

Here the "big donkey, walk or not walk" has been thrown, and the result is paid again by all Lorca.

The management of citizen security that Mr.

Mateos is carrying out is an accumulation of nonsense and ridiculous: he withdrew the Local Police from the districts and created an "anti-riot" group without having powers for mass control, he put up some cameras of surveillance without legal permission, which turned out to be false and had to be removed, and now it turns out that they have received a conviction and have to reinstate a staff agent, to which is added the fact that they are not complying with the collective agreement systematically over the last two years.

At the moment we already know that they have ruined the municipal company Limusa, which has gone from offering an annual surplus of 1.7 million euros during the Popular Party's management stage, to falling ruined as soon as the PSOE has set foot in the mayor's office , in such a way that it has lost 1.2 million euros in just 12 months.

Then it was the turn of the City Council itself, because Mr.

Mateos had no better idea than to spend the money that was reserved in the municipal coffers until the judgment of the trial with Iberdrola was final.

Mr.

Mateos, ignoring the continuous warnings that were made to him by the PP, has spent these 9 million euros that he now has to return and does not have them.

So in a year they ruined Limusa and it has taken two to do the same with the City Council The reality is that this local government does not give for more, it is exhausted and it is a failed parenthesis that we Lorca hopefully will close as soon as possible.

Fortunately, there is less left to put an end to a stage that constitutes the period of worst municipal management in memory .
