The City claims the Ministry of Development to officially inform the plans for the reopening of railway lines in Almeria and Granada (18/06/2010)

The Local Government has asked the National Government to clarify what projects are being considered and what dates covered.

The Consistory lorquino urges the Central Executive to shed some light on the subject to dispel the uncertainty.

Councilman Promotion of the City of Lorca, Joaquin Ruiz, has been reported that the city council through the Local Government Board, has asked the National Government through the Ministry of Public Works, to report officially to Ayuntamiento de Lorca on existing plans in this administration on the announced reopening of the railway line with Almeria, indicating also the dates handle all the paperwork related to it.

Ruiz Montalvan has indicated that official information has been requested these administrations on existing plans relating to the announced reopening of the railway line to Granada indicating also the dates handle all the paperwork related to it.

The City Council calls for further clarification of the situation in which the project is urban integration of the railway in Lorca, contemplating the construction of a new TGV station and the existing plans in this administration on the empowerment of a third way to transport goods.

Councillor of Public Works has stated that the city council has reiterated its invitation to the Ministry of Development, expressed on 25 June by the Local Government Board, that, since there are multiple official communication channels between government public we represent, to use the existence of them to transmit directly to the city of Lorca all those innovations that arise around this area and in particular to the condition that may affect our municipality.

The recovery of Almeria and Granada lines is indispensable

Ruiz Montalvan has indicated that this Council has been informed through the media during the last 15 days of different news and hypothetical statements regarding the arrival of the AVE to our city.

These stories contain different nominations made by political leaders from the National Government, specifically the Ministry of Development, linked both to the possible construction of a TGV station in Lorca and the recovery of rail links with Andalusia in two sense, on one side with Almeria and the other, with Granada.

From the city council through the Local Government, we recall that a year ago also had news of the dismantling of the sleepers and rails of the said railway line linking Murcia and Granada.

It should be remembered that this meant one of the most important communication nodes on the peninsula since 1885, as it is linked with the Spanish Levante eastern Andalusia.

This situation, which endowed our city with a huge potential for economic progress, was eliminated in 1985 by decision of the Central Government.

The Governing Board also wants to show that the possible reopening of the rail line to Granada is a performance that directly benefit our city and the towns of Puerto Lumbreras, Huércal Overa, Albox, Partaloa, Fines, Purchena , Lucar, Seron, Baza, Gor, Guadix, Darro, Bogarra, Iznalloz, Daifonte, Hazards and Granada itself.

It should be noted also that this line, after passing through Granada, continues to Huelva, with stops in cities like Seville and Huelva, facts that increase exponentially the importance of this communication by train.

Joaquin Ruiz has considered the implementation of FERRMED group, which claims the reopening of railway lines in Almeria and Granada, Lorca is an opportunity that is required to take, as contemplated in the draft recovery intercontinental communications rail.
