The Councillor for Environment in the city of Lorca, Satur Martinez reported that the city council has made the granting of the award "Ecoplayas" for Calnegre Creek lorquina for their continued commitment to improving its quality.
The nomination was presented by the Department of Planning and Environment under the Tenth Edition of the Awards Ecoplayas Flag 2015, within the XVII Congress in the Alborania deMálaga Museum.
The mayor explained that these awards recognize the municipality for his work for the quality of its beaches from environmental, tourism and sustainability view, with the aim of spreading their efforts, innovations and achievements.
The prize awarded is the result of an ongoing commitment to improving its quality, maintaining the positive aspects that had the cove and incorporating improvements and new features that combine tourism sustainably criteria and respect for nature.
Should be noted, in the maintenance of positive aspects, continuous cleaning of the cove, arrangement of access roads, temporary installation of elements and equipment to meet the requirements of accessibility and removal of architectural barriers affecting the integration of sustainable materials that suit the environment, sports activities and others aimed at raising awareness of the environmental richness of the lorquina coast as well as the establishment of a complete device lifesaving.
Cala Calnegre, among the improvements and developments made, is currently in the process of implementation of the Integrated System for Spanish Tourism Quality in Destinations (Sicted), consisting of a project to improve the quality of tourist destinations promoted by the Secretary of State Tourism, with the support of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP).
It is a methodology that provides a comprehensive and permanent quality management system into a tourist destination with a new conception of the expected results, a focus on continuous improvement and an attitude of recovery and valorization of resources and space.
Notably actions carried out as incorporating a signal to warn swimmers if water currents are detected and campaigning on recommendations to avoid incidents.
What Ecoplayas mean?
The winning flag Ecoplayas by the Technical Association for the waste management, urban cleaning and environment (Ategrus) is granted.
This award to all municipalities or supra-municipal entities beach, coastal and inland (river beaches, lakes or reservoirs), not necessarily of sand or stones (granite, limestone, basalt), but any land-water interface heads (concrete, wood, recycled plastic, vegetated land, textiles, etc.).
Given the existence of numerous certificates of various kinds that can get the beaches, this competition is an attempt to evaluate all of these features and to reward the best beaches and supra-municipal entities of each Spanish region.
Through a strict system of reporting and evaluation, it honors those municipalities and supra-municipal entities that are distinguished by the quality of its beaches from the environmental, tourism and sustainability view, with the aim of spreading their efforts, innovations and achievements.
Thus, it is to promote excellence in design, equipment and maintenance of the great asset that make up the Spanish beaches and its tourism development.
