The Governing Council, on a proposal from the Ministry of Presidency has authorized two grants, for a total amount of 15,815,000 euros, the Consortium for Fire Fighting and Rescue Region of Murcia (CEIS).

Thus, it becomes effective contribution of the Community to fund this entity and initiate Modernization Strategy 2016-2019, which highlights the construction and equipping of the new firehouse Lorca.

The CEIS, which includes the regional government and 43 municipalities, has 14 parks in the municipalities of Abanilla, Eagles, Sewer, Alhama de Murcia, Caravaca de la Cruz, Cieza, Jumilla, Lorca, Mazarron, Molina de Segura, Mula , Los Alcázares, Yecla and an endowment in San Pedro del Pinatar.

Among the first actions of said Modernization Strategy that envisaged for the Consortium renovations in the firehouses of Cieza, La Manga, Mar Menor, Mazarrón, Molina de Segura and Yecla, and the expansion of Sewer it includes and Mula.

In addition, it carries out the acquisition of material to improve service delivery and technological modernization of fire stations.

As for the new Fire Station Lorca, with a registered grant of 815,000 euros, will replace the previous closed due to damage caused by earthquakes and will have a floor space of 3,000 square meters.

It will serve directly to the towns of Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, totaling more than 100,000 inhabitants, but its influence will be more than 300,000, to provide support for twelve populations.

The aim is to provide the city of Lorca and its area of ​​influence of a park of modern, efficient and better equipped firefighters who exceed the previous one in living conditions and services and have all the requirements regarding earthquake-resistant building.

CEIS budget for this year has increased by more than four million euros, representing an eight percent more than in 2015. The economic increases to meet the needs of this service in recent years have been fully made since the community, in order to maintain service quality and reinforce safety and a half million inhabitants of the region.
