Soar to Parliament a motion of urgency to defend the right to public health and welfare of the residents of Lorca affected by purines (25/04/2016)

The result of a popular initiative starring country neighbors of Lorca affected by the indiscriminate dumping of purines and extending close to homes feedlots, municipal groups PSOE, Unida-Los Verdes Left and Citizens rise today to Full Council one emergency motion to protect the right to welfare and public health of these citizens.

The motion comes after a commitment of all local groups in a meeting held in Tercia affected last April 15 and finally has ignored the Popular Party.

Neighbors show special concern for the extension of a pig plant in the Way of the oils of this council and is expected to increase from two hundred to 1,200 head of cattle.

PSOE, IU and C's have expressed doubts about the administrative procedure has been carried out for the granting of this license and believe that some of the planning rules necessary for such an extension may have gone unnoticed in the project.

But above all, they are convinced that they have not taken into account the rights of the residents affected.

In this regard, they recall that the European Court of Human Rights recognized in a judgment that the fundamental rights of persons take precedence over any consideration of urban normative when granting an operating license like this.

Therefore, the three municipal groups are demanding that the city of Lorca to act immediately to promote the common good, to restore public health and curb pollution of soil and aquifers.

In this regard, they request that municipal technicians check the subject to the legality of the farms of the place and, if not be verified, the dossier of precautionary suspension of licenses are instituted.

PSOE, IU and C's also request that, taking advantage of the resignation of the Minister of Industry for their involvement in the roles of Panama, the city of Lorca require the new head of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism the implementation of actions allow the reopening of all purines treatment plants currently have paralyzed their activity in Lorca, recovering, incidentally, the jobs that depended on them.
